Clash of the Texans

Today will be my first visit to Yankee Stadium. Today will also be the first time that my childhood idol (Josh’s childhood idol as well), the man who (with Nolan Ryan and Craig Biggio) is directly responsible for making me a baseball nut, faces off against my favorite starter, the man who is indirectly responsible for helping to make me a Red Sox nut. I can’t think of a more perfect storm.

Roger on Josh: “I love that guy. I’ve gotten to know Josh a little bit and I really love the way he competes. He’s a bulldog out there. He doesn’t give in to anyone. He’s got great stuff. I mean, you’re not going to find too many guys in the league with an arm like that. But even more than the arm, he’s tough as can be. He’s got a great plan on what he’s doing out there.”

It’s Texas Day in the Bronx- even if it’s just Roger, Josh and I that realize it. And no matter what, this battle is going to be EPIC. I’ll see y’all on the other side- and I promise to bring back lots of pictures.

This is really Christmas Day for you! I love the juxtaposition you did there with the pictures. I also love what Roger has to say about Josh, even though I’m not so much a Roger fan.

Enjoy the hallowed grounds of The Stadium!

First of all, I am jealous as ALL HELL that you are going to tonight’s game. It’s going to be huge game for Beckett – what I wouldn’t give to be sitting there in person taking it all in. I *heart* Beckett so much that I have permission from my husband to “run off with him, if he’ll have you”.

Love the comparison with the photos, as eerie as it is to see the similarities between Joshie and that other guy. I hope we see the “I-am-Sparta” Josh tonight and he schools the Yankees.

I am so so so so so excited- this cannot be overstated.

I’m not going to make any predictions- I’m just going to agree with the hope that This! Is! Sparta! Josh comes out to play.

The second to last set of pictures is a bit creepy. I’d never really thought about how much Beckett really does resemble the younger Clemens, but there is the photographic evidence.

You’re so damn lucky to actually be going to this game, regardless of the outcome. Have fun!

I’m so excited for you! Hopefully Papelbon and his slutter will also make an appearance and your head will explode from sheer happiness.

If I’da known you were coming I’d have baked a cake.

Or at least bought you a beer. I was going to head uptown to take some photos of the crowd.

We were cheering the sox loudly last night. Of course this is also while I was saying bad things about your Phillies. I’m surprised you still talk to me

Well, hell. I wish Josh would have showed up to the game, instead of sending his evil sucky twin.

(and mg- you’re just too darned awesome for me to cut you off- even though you are guilty of the cardinal sin of being a Mets fan)
