Jai- the full slate of pictures will be up later today. And thanks, I did enjoy the experience, even if I didn’t enjoy the result of the game.

And I don’t mean to be a baseball snot, because it’s not like I know every rule and nuance- it’s just: if you’re sitting 8 rows off the batter’s circle in Yankee Stadium, you really are going to annoy the shit out of people if you tutor your friend in baseball in a really loud voice. It makes it difficult to concentrate on the action when you’re hearing “WHERE DOES THE SHORTSTOP STAND ON THE FIELD?” or “SO WHY CAN’T THEY JUST THROW THE BALL RIGHT AT THE RUNNER?” rather than the actual game.

Nice pics. Can’t wait to see the rest. Bummer about the good guys not winning, but it looks like you enjoyed the game in spite of it. Totally commiserate on the people not knowing anything about baseball – if you want to learn, go home and watch it on TV, then come to the game. I personally think that you should have to pass a test or something to get the better seats. If you don’t know who’s on the team you’re watching, you deserve to sit in the nosebleeds.

Oh, and that photo of Eric Gagne – until I read your caption, I thought Manny Del Carmen had gained some weight.

And Clare- baseball karma for sitting up in those awful seats at the tippy-top of the Astrodome for all my formative years.

I loved Farnsworth, too- he was the only pitcher last night that we really produced against.

And for the record, the guys sitting in front of me: (1) did not know who Farnsworth was, and (2) had never heard of Scott Proctor.

It also may have had something to do with the seats I was in- I’ve learned this year that the knowledge of the fans surrounding you is usually inversely proportional to the quality of the seats you’re sitting in. The better the seats, the more casual the fans.

I have been going to Yankee Stadium since 1985 and it’s always kind of been that way. Because there are so many tourists and people looking for something fun to do in New York, you get those idiots who ruin the whole thing for real fans.

I can also speak to the Farnsworth thing: Yup, I hate that guy. He is a giant ass.
