Now that, fc – I can get behind that. 2001 would be a special case- and although I can’t say I rooted for them then, I admit it would have been a welcome win for the city, and one I would not have begrudged them at all.

I’ll admit that in 2001 when it was Yankees vs. Diamondbacks, I thought it would have been nice for the Yankees to win for New York, with the events of 9/11 so fresh. Not that I watched or rooted for either team.

Well, the Republican National Convention will be in St. Paul, and the Democrat’s will be held in Denver. So based on that…Republicans= AL and Dems= NL. Let the All-Star game decide! And hey, people VOTE for the All-Star team, so it’s still democratic! Yay democracy!

Seriously though, if one’s team actually DOES determines success, I hope to god that a certain ex-president’s wife hates baseball, or is a huge Royals fan:-)

i actually like your suggestion about sport allegiances, maybe something would get done in this country…i feel the same way i can never route for the yankees. when guiliani said he was routing for the sox i though if we lose i’m blaming you…if anything i can say a lot of people in ny don’t like him either.
