BREAKING: Schilling and Sox Close To Deal?
Rob Bradford of the Boston Herald is reporting that Curt Schilling and the Red Sox are close to reaching a deal that would bring him back to Boston next season. From the Herald:
The deal is believed to be incentive-laden and, according to sources, might be simply contingent on a final physical.
Schilling, when reached by phone last night, said that things “gathered momentum and if they continued to progress like they did (yesterday) something could potentially get done.”

Talks with the Red Sox are moving. Theo and I have spoken multiple times daily over the past week and given the current situation I am feeling very confident that we will be able to finalize a 1 year contract to allow us a chance to finish our career as members of the Red Sox organization.
There are some things to iron out and details that must be finalized for both sides but barring something unforseen or outrageously odd happening I feel very comfortable that I will finish my career here.
I guess we all were watching Monday Night Football at the same time. LOL.

Nope- I read it on the Herald about 45 minutes ago, right before I posted this entry. The Herald is the one that broke the story.
You posted about this before SOSH did! That’s awesome! I hope it’s true….I didn’t think he’d go for an incentive based thing, but I think the events of the past week and a half may have swayed him a bit in Boston’s favor:-D
I don’t think I’ve ever scooped SoSH on anything. This is a momentous occasion. Except all the credit goes to the Herald- they broke the story, everyone else just glommed onto it.
Schill just posted this about Shaughnessy :

Hahaha. Someone suggested once that Curt should drill his kid during the BC ST game…I know his kid is most likely not as shitty as his dad, but the reaction from “Shaugnostradamus” would be priceless. This news is great though:-D

Are you sure the Herald broke this because I got a call at 10.30 saying fox news had it on. That was 2 hours ago
ESPN, Fox (national) and AP all cited the Herald as their source. I don’t get local Fox in Boston- but if they broke it, then the rest of those news sources need to get their attribution straight.
Sure enough- local Fox in Boston also cites Herald as their source. Fox Boston Report. Looks like it was the Herald on this one.

But what are they doing, negotiating with Schill before we’ve got Lowell locked down for the next three decades!?
