Clay Buchholz was not going to sit back and watch idly as first Josh Beckett and then Jonathan Papelbon won This Year In Baseball Awards. After hearing Josh’s bragging about being “the only Texan to win” and Jonathan crowing he was “the youngest winner”, Clay had enough… and went and won himself the 2007 Performance of the Year Award for his no-hitter.

With a runaway 35.4% of the vote, Clay easily beat second place vote-getter Justin Verlander (21%) and third place Mark Buehrle (11.5%). All three of the top finishers were no-hitters.

:) Our boys are just raking in the TYIB awards, aren’t they? This one in particular is close to my heart…
Who wants to be that Dustin picks up the Rookie win?
Oh, this one makes me especially happy. Love this kid.
Gotta love the Clay. :D
Oh, of course Dusty gets RotY. Then he gets it two times over. And Okie gets set-up, Dusty gets best play (that catch in the no-no), and one of the 5 options relating to the Sox in best postseason moment (I, personally, voted for JD’s grand slam).
Yeah – I’ve followed him since he came to the PawSox, so he’s always had a special place in my heart.
Sounds like a good plan to me. Okie definitely could get the Set-up. He was incredible. And so was JD’s slam.
I’m SO glad Clay won! He was amazing! Even in the off season our guys continue to make us proud!
