Random Sox Theatre: Moose Hunting

How about something that has absolutely nothing to do with steroids, steroids taken by Barry Bonds, steroids sold to Paul LoDuca or steroids injected into Roger Clemens’s butt?

It’s time for another new installment of Random Sox Theatre.

Beckett has his deer hunting, Wakefield and Timlin have their bows, but Jonathan Papelbon has his moose hunting. Back in November of 2006, NESN very wisely gave Papelbon a hand-held camera to take along on a moose hunt he did up in Maine for charity. And as you might imagine, it is nigh impossible to give Papelbon a camera and not have the results be fascinating.

Here’s video shot by Papelbon out in the wilds of Maine:

And if you’d like more backstory on the hunt, after the jump I’ve got video from Tina Cervasio explaining more about what Jonathan was doing up there and what went on.

I’ve been to Jackman quite a few times…so I’m totally recognizing the buildings he’s driving past… It makes it that much better.

AAAHHH..something a little lighter than this afternoon. A bit “Blair Witch-like” at the beginning, huh? Beautiful country. Paps is just one heck of a funny guy..even when he isn’t trying to be. Good stuff, TG

    You really do, Ian.

SG: I have wanted to go to Maine for a very long time. I need to make that happen.

sshark: HAH! I thought the same thing. PAPELBON: HOLD THE CAMERA STILL, YOU’RE MAKING ME NAUSEOUS.

I was up there the first time for white-water rafting [in March......], the second time to deer hunt, and the last couple times just to hang out with some friends who live up there.

I highly recommend making the trip.

hmm…the Red Sox line-up isn’t too PETA friendly is it?

Well, considering they play with leather balls, gloves, shoes and belts… baseball isn’t really PETA friendly, period. That’s not even getting into all the hotdogs that are sold at the ballparks…
