What To Get for the Sox Fan Who Has Everything

Only two shopping days left until Christmas… and if you’re still scrambling around looking for that perfect gift for the rabid Sox fan in your life, look no further! They may own every Red Sox book, DVD, shirt and Wally doll ever made– but I bet they haven’t gotten ahold of most of these things yet.

Commemorative Scrabble Game

One of those “slap a World Champions logo on a product and try to cash in on the Red Sox mania” things… but this one’s actually kind of cool. The board is shaped like a baseball field (cute!). Even better- the letter tiles are BASEBALLS (cuter!). Keep your Scrabblin’ skills honed and sharp – you never know when a certain Southern closer might challenge you to a game.

Hint: don’t try and use the word “enphatically”… Josh tried that once, and it wasn’t pretty.

The Boston Baseball Band CDs

They might have every Dropkick Murphys CD ever made. Their CD collection might already contain CDs from Daisuke Matsuzaka and Bronson Arroyo. But it’s a safe bet that the Sox fan in your life hasn’t yet gotten their hands on these two CDs from The Boston Baseball Band.

Go Red Sox! contains gems like “Advice to Grady Little”, “Jerry Remy’s Laughing Fit” and “Manny Being Manny” (there’s even a track dedicated to NESN’s Hazel Mae) — and the newest CD 11 in 10: Celebrating 11 Red Sox Victories in October 2007 follows it up with “Papelbon Dance”, “J.D. Drew, We Forgive You” and “Josh Beckett’s Ex-Girlfriend”. Now that’s just poetic.

Witch Hat

I don’t know what this has to do with Christmas, but I saw it for sale at MLB.com and just had to include it… because IT IS A RED AND BLUE RED SOX WITCH HAT. This makes no sense at all and therefore is awesome.

LOTS MORE SOX GIFTS, AFTER THE JUMP!

Big Papi Ornament

The folks at Hallmark must have some kind of psychic abilities, because way back before the baseball season even got into full swing, they selected Boston’s own David Ortiz to be featured as this year’s At The Ballpark ornament guy. It’s already officially “SOLD OUT” at Hallmark.com, but if you’re in Texas (like me!) for the holidays, you can still find them at every single Hallmark store around. These Texans apparently don’t know a cool ornament when they see it- which I am totally going to take advantage of, and scoop one up for 50% off the day after Christmas.

And if you’re so inclined, you can always collect the whole set- and pick yourself up a Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire or Sammy Sosa ornament. It is kind of funny that everyone else’s ornament pose is them mid-swing or mid-catch… but A-Rod’s pose looks like he’s taking a dump.

Racing Pedal Car

At what age is a person considered “too old” for a pedal car? I maintain that as long as you can squeeze yourself in behind the wheel, you should be able to play with them. Because, seriously- does this not look like the coolest present ever? I am totally jealous of this random small child who gets to pedal around in this car. I bet she doesn’t even truly appreciate it.

Springing For A Cure Christmas Cards

Feeling guilty about not getting your Christmas cards out in time before the holidays? Do like my mom did, and send out Christmas in July cards instead! And while you’re at it, stock up on these cards from Springing For A Cure — sold in conjunction with Curt Schilling’s Pitch For ALS charity, and proceeds from the cards go to fight against ALS.

Yankees Dartboard

Sure, they sell Red Sox dartboards- but what fun is it to throw darts at something with the Sox logo on it? Much more satisfying to throw things at that interlocking NY. You can even pin a picture of your favorite most hated Yanks player to the middle of the board for extra fun!

Wedding Night Fun

Something old – the Sox have been around si
Something new – a brand new shiny World Series trophy!
Something borrowed – thank you, Florida Marlins, for “lending” us Beckett and Lowell.
Something blue – Yankees fans and their cold, unfeeling hearts.

I can’t imagine any red-blooded Sox-loving man wouldn’t enjoy seeing this on his new bride.

Home Plate Doormat

Yes, I have one of these. Yes, it is quite possibly the coolest doormat ever created. It’s a HOME plate doormat… get it?

Red Seat T-shirts

Greatest Red Sox t-shirts on the market, bar none. Every single design is gorgeous. I defy you to only buy just one. The newest design commemorating the Sox win in ‘07 is fantastic – but I admit I’m partial to the three-pack of “God Hearts Us” / “God Hates Us” / “Building Character Since 1912″ shirts.

(psst… I can also attest that the two “The Nation” posters make a beautiful display when framed and hung side-by-side on a wall)

Miniature Gold Glove Award

Now you can pretend you’re as cool as Kevin Youkilis, and put one of these (miniature) Rawlings Gold Glove Awards on your mantel. Now if only there was a miniature Silver Slugger Award to match…

Fenway Park Magnetic Scoreboard

I want one of these so very badly. I’m not sure where I would put it, or what I would do with it- but I would gladly remove pieces of furniture from my house to find a place to hang this. Just think: during the season, you could sit and obsessively keep track of game scores on here — and in the offseason, you could create your own scores. You could have the Sox beating the Yankees every day if you wanted!

Sports Propaganda Prints

Chris Speakman’s prints are gorgeous and stunning and beautiful. I know this because I own just about every single one he’s produced. He takes the iconic look of WWII propaganda posters, and creates these (very limited edition) amazing silk-screened prints celebrating the Sox players and historic achievements. You’re too late to snag the Josh Beckett, Jonathan Papelbon, Mike Lowell or Dustin Pedroia prints (which proudly adorn the walls of my home) — but you can still snag one of these limited edition prints from the World Series championship this year:

Even cooler: he produced a set of four slightly smaller prints, one for each game of the Series and featuring a different player – and that set is still available as well.

Blogger Creations

You may have already snagged your Team Beckett or Team Papelbon shirts – but give these shirts designed by fellow bloggers a look-see, will ya?

The lovely ladies of Respect The Tek (which just happens to be one of my most favorite places on the web) put together a totally charming Bullpen Band shirt- which you can buy here, in all kinds of variations.

And Mel (piney61) and Sarah (boston_princess) are starting their own grand adventure into shirt shopkeeping at Caroms Off The Coke Bottles (love the name!)- and their first shirt is a 2007 World Champions shirt celebrating MDC’s band as well.

If you can’t decide between these shirts, may I suggest buying one of each? Because they’re both so very awesome.

Happy shopping!

The bullpen shirts are pretty sweet. I think I might have to get myself one of those.

I’m totally wishing that I knew the RS garter existed for my wedding. Not only would I have totally been proud to wear it but it would have also matched the colors on my wedding dress. Hmmm … maybe when I’m crazy and try to re-enact my wedding in 10 years, I’ll have to get one of those then!

Chris’ prints are absolutely amazing! I got the WS (band of brothers) print a few weeks back and my 4 print set arrived yesterday.

…and now adding more items to my wish list!

I’m pretty sure my roommates would go mental if I had that scoreboard hanging in our apartment living room (they aren’t that thrilled with the AL standings board in there being Rays and O’s fans and all), but eff that. If I have to put up with horrible print china when I eat they can deal with the pure awesomeness of that scoreboard.

I got a child who would love that pedal car (the lone member of the family who decided to be a Red Sox fan when everyone else roots for the local team).

The “home” doormat is excellent but how do they get off saying it is 24″ square?

AAH. I tried to pick my top three items and it took me a long, long time.

The only thing that’s keeping me back from buying that Scrabble set right now is that I already bought a (classic) Travel Scrabble singularly for the purpose of bringing it along on any trips I might make to Louisiana/Florida.

Mel and Sarah: I probably will buy/REALLY REALLY WANT that red bullpen band t-shirt. Brilliant design. I’m kind of in love with it. :D

Just for giggles, I checked out one of the local Hallmark stores (central MA) and they still had Papi ornaments. I thought it was kind of suprising but couldn’t risk not getting mine at the half-off sales.

Merry Christmas TG – safe travels home after the holidays. :)

I am getting Red Sox Monopoly for Christmas. The secret was spilled by my 7 year old twin niece and nephew. LOL I was also told that Josh Beckett is on the board (that was a big deal to them). I wonder if I can buy him like Park Place?? LMAO!

    Merry Christmas everyone!
