The Grin of the Cheshire Cat

Remember when the Inside Track girls got ahold of that picture of Josh Beckett, and created a mini-hysteria that The Ace had bulked up a bit over the winter? Not surprisingly, Josh is not phased in the slightest.

Josh spoke with WBZ’s Dan Roche this morning in Ft. Myers, and Josh had an invitation – and a wicked grin.

Any time somebody wants to come and try and go through one of my workouts with me – and I think those people probably know who they are – come on down.

Dan, god love him, asks if that invitation was for the Inside Track ladies- and Josh confirms, “Basically, yes.” I don’t think he gives a crap about the belly picture- it’s the insinuation that he lazed about getting fat in the offseason that makes him laugh.

I’m telling y’all, deer sausage and beer have a lot of calories. Just had to give the guy a day or two- because there does not appear to be anything extra hanging around.

It was bad lighting in the original picture. But that’s great him calling out the Inside Track girls.

Forgot the LOL after the bad lighting.

Who cares what he looks like. The man is already focused and you can’t beat that.

He is a riot. I’m glad he commented about it. Not that it was a big deal because we all knew it was the picture. But it’s fun to see him give them a little shot. LOL And besides, he looks HOT! LOL

That was really great. I am delighted he responded the way he did, with humor when he just as easily could have been dismissive about the media gossips (which he has been known to do).

(I also love that you can hear Paps hollering about something in the background.)

YES! He does seem to be in a good mood….however, there is a hint of evil behind that cheerfulness.

  11. 2008 February 21 at 4:58 pm

I don’t think it’s evil, so much as it is mischievous.

Ok…mischievous is better word. Definitely a glimmer of mischief in his eye.

But everyone knows it’s not officially spring until Josh drops an f-bomb during a press conference. That’s the Josh I know and love.

I don’t know what to think about that video. I’m so used to Surly Josh, I don’t know what to make of Impish Josh. I’d almost convinced myself that Josh is so consumed by his pitch execution that he doesn’t have time for somthing as trivial as laughter. And, now, I see Impish Josh and I’ve been proven wrong.

As we know there is the Josh Beckett Drinking game, and I’m suggesting that future impish and/or mischievious behaviors be added into the game. Drink a shot of tequila for every time Beckett displays humor or mischeivious behavior during the 2008 season.

Carlos Delgado is the cheshire cat. Seriously.

Although that shot of Beckett is damn close.

Like Beckett needs motivation – (Inside Track girls)please keep pouring on the bulletin board material for this guy and the Sox. See you in September and of course October. :)

That’s the most relaxed I’ve ever seen Beckett. It seems disturbing and unnatural. It totally goes against the image I’ve built up in my mind of what his personality is. Damnit, I like the image of a Beckett who is constantly seething with rage and who could rip your head off at the drop of a dime. I hope he’s back to his “old self” in time for this season’s press conferences.

agreed with maxwell that that’s the most relaxed i’ve ever seen beckett. but that just adds credence to my dad’s theory that the reason he’s so surly in press conferences is because they get him too close to the game, when he’s still all amped up and his shoulder hurts. my dad has always maintained that if they had him do a press conf the next morning, it would be completely different. maybe he’s right. !
