MLB Loves Me

I’m taking it as a personal shout-out, that MLB has this ad popping up all over the place on its website.

I mean, COME ON. The Sox, the Cubs AND the Phillies? All in the green of my people? MLB totally loves me. And also recognizes that I’m a sucker for any merchandise with a shamrock on it.

would you settle for a little scottish/italian in ya instead? LOL.
Just kidding. That is the perfect ad for you.
It’s like my baseball love and my Irish love all combined in one big happy ball.
Also- your man Steve totally called you out as a “pink hat” in the gameday thread from yesterday. The horror!
He told me and I saw. I have suspended him from his duties at SOX & Dawgs until he’s issues a public apology. (j.k.)
Maybe he’s just jealous I was hangin with the ladies last night.
Sheepishly, I really, really like the track jacket. It’s tempting…
Don’t be sheepish about that – I covet that track jacket, of the Sox variety. I have a Cubs track jacket, but not a Sox one. Hmmmm….
Also, Ian? That’s totally it.
Ladies who know and love their baseball are no match for wingmen. :)
Wow. They only need to put the head of Josh Beckett under that hat and it would be simply perfect for you, TG.
(The guy has got to have some Irish blood in him. He looks frighteningly similar to a friend of mine who is 100% Irish.)
Beckett is an Irish/Celtic name…
Oh, Liza – I don’t even need the hat. :)
And Anonymous (oh who are you, Anonymous?) – exactly. Like Samuel Beckett. So, his heritage is Irish, at least.
I’ve been waiting patiently for a S. Beckett/J. Beckett comparison, or atl least co-mention.
Here’s a Samuel Beckett quote to ponder pre-game:
“With diminished concentration, loss of memory, obscured intelligence… the more chance there is for saying something closest to what one really is. Even though everything seems inexpressible, there remains the need to express. A child needs to make a sand castle even though it makes no sense. In old age, with only a few grains of sand, one has the greatest possibility.” (from Playwrights at Work, ed. by George Plimpton, 2000)
Must remember: Samuel Beckett quotes are conversation killers.
Maybe it’s got something to do with the huge St. Pats celebrations in Chicago and Boston…I dunno about Philly though haha.
I have been avoiding walking on Brookline Ave lately, for fear I will go into the team store and buy up all of the St. Pats stuff they have there. I already have a hat, and a shirt. And a sweatshirt. But they have new shirts this year! And jackets!
Friends of mine in Tampa are going to the St. Pat’s game against NYY this year. Me=jealous.
Not at all, starr4! I’m also thinking that quote could apply after one had been imbibing of some beverage. In vino veritas, and all that.
I was at the St. Pat’s game last year against the Yankees… for the Phillies.
I’ll be at the St. Pat’s game this year… for the Phillies.
Not quite the same – but drunken fun, nonetheless.
Me=sucker for any and all things Irish. I knew there was a reason I liked Beckett aside from his pitching awesomeness ; )
Just ordered my stuff! I want to wear my new shirt at the St. Patrick’s Day party I’m attending on the 15th. It’s on backorder but I hope I get it on time. I have to wear this shirt because they are all (cough, cough) Giants fans!!
