Awkwardness Avoided

Don’t worry- all of the Sox luggage will soon be winging its way to Japan as planned.

Oh, and the players too.

Per the Herald, the Red Sox prevailed on Major League Baseball to “relent and compensate all personnel in an appropriate fashion.” After a morning filled with controversy and Norma Rae-esque standoffs, the Sox coaches and staff will now be getting paid an undisclosed amount which is more than the undisclosed amount they were going to be paid previously. That clears that right up! Ever the eloquent speaker, Curt Schilling confirmed reports.

When asked if the team got what it wanted, Sox pitcher Curt Schilling responded in a text message, “Yes.”

Only thing in that picture that won’t make it on the plane to Japan? The guy in the top right corner. [insert sad face here]

awesome, now we can get to more pressing issues such as, how will Paps handle the language barrier and cultural customs issues? will he just bow to everyone he sees?

I do see a lavender suitcase. I need to find out whose that is. That is insanely awesome.

Who else finds it amusing–and yet unsurprising–that Lowell’s the one who appears to be going over the bags?

That’s a lot of suitcases. It’s rather humorous that of all the players who could’ve been walking by when that photo was taken, it ended up being the key guy whose bags aren’t packed.

Maybe Josh’s teammates will bring him back some nice souvenirs.

Do their wives travel with them for trips like these?

I’m actually going to answer my own question. I saw on redsox.com, pictures of players and their wives leaving to go to the plane. What a great opportunity for all of them.

I loved the close-up shots during the game today of the players’ luggage tags, all shiny and pretty and new.

I hope they gave Jacoby a toiletry bag this time, so he doesn’t have to carry stuff around in one of Tavarez’s garbage bags – I wouldnt want to know where those things have been.

also, I’d like to point out how bad-ass the Dice Man looks in this photo. He looks like the Japanese version of Justin Timberlake, accompanied by his entourage. I’m diggin it.

also, does Clay get to bring the Pet along to Japan? I don’t think Schonda Schilling would approve of that. I bet she calls her “Michelle Mangan” behind her back.
