I Blame Myself

So I’m at the Phillies-Indians game at the Indians ballpark in Winter Haven, Florida, basking in the sun and hating on Ryan Garko (he totally deserves it), when I get a frantic text that says: “Beckett!! Nooooooooo!” Which was very cruel and unkind to do to a person who is at a ballgame and therefore has no idea what is going on and so imagines the worst. So I hop on to the Globe’s website, and find:

I blame myself.

Clearly, it is no coincidence that the first day I’m otherwise occupied down here in Florida, Josh goes off and pulls a stunt like this to get my attention back.

It’s like when your pet pees in your favorite pair of shoes when you go to work. Or eats grass to make himself throw up.

Just like that. Josh needs you, TG. He needs you.

What really happened was he found out you were in Flordia and was just checking the crowd to see if you were there.

That is way too amusing. I think the more likely reason, is he is having way too much fun off the field. What did he do to make his back spasm?

So, I’m having a little mind/gutter meeting here, so… What are the three in front looking at?

Twinkie – he does look like he’s, ah, showing something off, doesn’t he?

Okay Twinkie…now I’ve got naughty captions running through my mind because of your “observation”. LOL And poor Dustin in the background…shorty..can’t see anything. K, I’ve seriously got to stop it…out of my brain dammit! :)

Josh knows you’re in town, TG. Our boy just wants to make sure you’ve still got the love for him, that’s all. ;) Hope you’re having a good time!

Herald is reporting Beckett may miss Japan.

Maybe he can bond with Dice-K’s bambino in the meantime?

I’m not worried but, TG, if more injuries happen while you’re sunning in Winter Haven, we’ll need to talk! :)

While the no-Japan-trip scenario isn’t good, the Globe is reporting he looks better than they thought. We’ll have to wait and see.

Scream something about warm Florida champagne to Garko for me, Texy!

This is what has been bugging me this morning. K, Becks may be quesionable for Japan (probably will pitch, but let’s say they decide to let him sit out). Shilling can’t pitch, Dice-K is having a baby and may be tied up. Who do they put on the mound? Do they start Wake??

Y’all don’t mind me. Beckett is my boy, so he’s got me all jacked up and worried this weekend. :)

Dice-K’s wife is due the 19th I believe, the day the team is scheduled to leave. If she delivers then, or before then, and all goes smoothly, they are pretty sure Dice will be able pitch one of the A’s games, even if he doesn’t fly there with the team.

If both Beckett and Dice don’t go, my guesses would be Wake and Lester…but I really don’t know.

And the Globe is now saying that Beckett told trainers he has some back soreness last week, but that they believe is is muscular in nature and not a disc or anything like that.

If it is because of muscles (like Meg said), hopefully his Phiten necklaces will help. He wears about a million of them, so they should do something…

Hey– I’ve been enjoying your site for a while TG, but have not posted. Will do so here.

I was at the game on Sat and soooo excited to see Beckett pitch. He was on the mound, I turned to get my 8 year old son settled, turned back to the field and all of the sudden there’s this huge huddle on the mound. Then Josh is leaving. Huh? What? It was in that moment that I truly missed television announcers to provide some information on what the heck just happened. We’re all still holding our breath.

On the positive side of the coin, Jacoby Ellsbury played all 9 innings, hitting a 2 run shot in the 9th, which was totally worth seeing.

And on the plus side, Josh has clearly retained his excellent vocabulary (as evidenced by his press conference) so he can’t be too bad off!

How many people texted you “Joshie Beckett out with back spasms? OH NOES!!” I know I did.
