It’s A Boy

Congratulations to Daisuke Matsuzaka and his wife, Tomoyo, on their brand new baby boy – born yesterday morning at 7:30 a.m. in Boston.
This also means that after a few days in Boston with his wife and children, Dice-K will rejoin the team and be available to travel to Japan. Cheers all around!

Hooraaaaay! Congrats to the Matsuzakas and the entire nation of Japan, which I’m sure is ecstatic that their Daisuke will be able to pitch in Tokyo!
Everybody wins: Daisuke got to witness the birth of his child and still gets to pitch for the Sox in his home country. I love it when things work out perfectly.
wait – didn’t he PITCH today? or am I hallucinating? was he like “ok, push…it’s out? what do we have? a boy? great! 10 fingers, 10 toes…ok honey,. gotta go, where’s my plane?”
gotta feel bad for Tomako…the Sox brass is like “any way you could, like, try to push that person out of your body a day SOONER, cuz it kinda F’s up the lineup. i mean, come on, you know youre supposed to have these things done during the off-season. so can you work that out? cuz your husband cost us a sh-tload. thanks.”
Oh, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Dice Baby’s delivery was induced…. The timing is just TOO good, ya know?
Inductions are pretty safe (I speak as someone who scheduled inductions for all three of her kids for various reasons), but my heart still goes out to Tomoyo. Forget the delivery trauma; newborns are TONS of work! And, the lack of sleep…. OY. I just hope she has lots of help while Dice is in Japan.
