HOME OPENER. RING CEREMONY. ‘Nuff said.
Use the comments to this entry as your own personal Gameday open thread. These open threads have been fun so far – so I’ll keep ‘em up as long as y’all are interested in having them.

how great it is that Papi and Pesky are putting the flag up?
No Erin because he had to go warm up for the game.
Pesky: “Why’d you gotta make that [flag] so goddamned big?” :)
Now THAT was goosebump-worthy.
AAAAHHHHHHHHH…this is killing me! What did they play for Beckett?
Wakey and Pesky are adorable.
Thanks Ian! Thats what thought when I missed it before, but I wanted to be sure.
The Main Theme to Raiders of the Lost Ark for Beckett
Indiana Jones theme, shark.
now the baseball season can begin–enough of the dog & pony show.
I really, really wish they’d let the Bruins, Celtics, Pats and old Sox guys stay in those folding chairs on the field the whole game.
Beckett – don’t wallop Lester on the head so hard. You might injure him.
are you SURE they are re-airing this tonight on NESN?
I didn’t see it listed on their TV schedule.
Here’s all the music from the Pro Jo SoxBlog:
The rings for the Manager and the Coaches were given out as the Boston Pops played the Main Theme to the Magnificent Seven, originally composed by Elmer Bernstein, chosen to collectively represent Manager Terry Francona and his team of six coaches.
When the Saints Go Marching In was played during the distribution of rings for the Trainers and Clubhouse Staff.
The Main Theme to Superman, composed by John Williams, was performed by the Boston Pops when Captain and Catcher Jason Varitek, Catcher Kevin Cash and former Catcher Doug Mirabelli received their rings to represent Varitek

PS: By “dog & pony show,” I mean the exhibition games, etc. NOT this wonderful ceremony ;-)
Ian, awesome, thanks for posting that.
Yes, I’m sure. It’s a condensed 30 minute version.
I do like how they brought back Daubach though – NICE!
where’s Brunansky?? bring me some Brunansky!!!
I think the front office was a little scared Billy would get booed.
The fighter jets just circled over Somerville.
Your welcome and in case your wondering about Buckner’s music:
Buckner walked out to the Closing Credits theme from the movie Glory, composed by James Horner. The movie is based on the history of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Regiment during the American Civil War and was one of the first formal units of the U.S. Army to be made up entirely of African American soldiers.
Awww – is Bill tearing up? AWWWWWWWWWWWW.
Texy that link I posted says it will be on for a full hour
Let’s hope Buckner isn’t cursed still, Youk just touched him.
All’s I know is what my TV guide says – it says just 30 minutes. Of course, my Tivo program guide said 1 hour.
My channel just went black!
Crap. I can’t watch on NESN…got some FSN channel with a crappy HD feed. Tigers announcers. Kill me. I can’t get the *real* HD feed. Why, am I *not* paying enough to directv?
:: fumes ::
There’s the Paps commercial we’ve been hearing about.
TG – was it the Dunkin commercial? I’m totally looking forward to those.
Rub it in TG, rub it in.
;-)
:: still fuming ::
Although, the FSN announcer said the ring ceremony was the “best thing I’ve ever seen.”
damn straight, buddy.
Nope – a sporting goods ad. No Dunkin commercial yet. I’ll put that Paps commercial up, too.
Texy my comcast tv guide on screen says 6:30-7:30 on NESN.
My cable’s showing a repeat of the ring ceremony from 6:30-7:30. Then the game again.
Texy, I’m doing the video as well. Sent you an email about that.
Inquiring minds, not able to access video, want to know. How was Buckner received?!?
Off to a meeting, can you believe it? Said as only Joe C. can say it.
Yankees fans, indeed.
Buckner was well received.
I’m sitting here in North Carolina reading these comments and so, so, SO wishing I could have seen the ceremony on TV, and the game too, of course. I’m so jealous. The comment about the different theme songs had me teared up. The video link won’t come up on my office server so I’ll check it at home tonight. I can’t wait for the nationally televised games this coming weekend so I can see my guys again!
Billy got cheered – loudly and for a long time. He also teared up a tad on the mound.
UGH…this is killing me!!!!
Dice is looking just fine today. Better than fine, even.
Starting this game off right – basehit for Youk.
Dice is looking great.
Two on, too bad Manny got out, but it advanced the runners and wasn’t a double play.
Too bad Guillen didn’t Buckner that ball
Next time, boys, when there’s runners on, let’s drive them in. Ok? Thanks.
NICE pitch
My cable modem is crawling today. Of course trying to upload big files of video goodness isn’t helping.
That’s my boy Greg Gibson behind the dish.
TEK!!!! Nice hit!
let’s bring ‘em in.
