vs. New York Yankees
7:05 pm
Fenway Park – Boston, MA
SP: Clay Buchholz vs. Chien-Ming Wang
tv/radio: NESN – MLB.TV – WRKO

This is your only chance to watch the Sox take on the Yanks this weekend without having to endure Tim McCarver or Joe Morgan. Enjoy it while it lasts. Anyone else hoping for a repeat appearance from the hawk?

Use the comments to this entry as your own personal Gameday open thread. These open threads have been fun so far – so I’ll keep ‘em up as long as y’all are interested in having them.

GREAT. Clay, calm down and get through it – you’ll be okay.

    Oh fuck. STOP THROWING BALLS.

This happens far too often. Once he gets stuck in one of these jam situations, he gets nervous and his control suffers.

It never ceases to amaze me how a fabulous pitching outing can go SO wrong SO quickly.

If I were Tek, I wouldn’t have Clay use that fastball too much. He doesn’t have great command of it in comparison to his breaking balls. On the other hand, I wouldn’t want to overuse the changeup and the curveball as strikeout pitches because the hitters would then learn them…

    THANK GOD FOR SEAN CASEY.

1863, the Devs are on a 4-min power-play, but it’s still tied 0-0. Zach Parise is so awesome. Someone just whacked him in the face with a stick and his two front teeth fell out (seriously, he was holding them in his hand!) Now (two minutes later), he is back on the ice! This reminds me of Dustin with his broken hand…brave little players!

I wonder what kind of dental plan the NHL has?

  18. 2008 April 11 at 8:31 pm

They are? (crosses her fingers) Goals would be nice, guys…

I love it when players go out there like that – it shows effort. (I’ve taken tests terribly sick, but that’s not even close!)

Oregon State is up 5-0 in the bottom of the first inning. If Clay needs to relax, he could probably get a good laugh from the inevitable Jacoby-Jed banter.

I’m keeping track of the OSU/Stanford game, too–the funniest part is how Stanford sent three to the plate and then OSU got five runs.

The starter was out after pitching 0.2 innings, too.

now might be a good time to point out that WANG IS THROWING A NO-HITTER! did you all hear that? NO HITS!

Stanford in the process of coming back in the top of the second. It’s now 5-3 OSU.

This game is making me laugh so freaking hard, if only for the mental images it’s giving me of Jed and Jacoby bickering.

YES. That’s the way to get it done, Clay.

If he makes it through six with only one run, I’ll be very pleased…
