vs. New York Yankees
7:05 pm
Fenway Park – Boston, MA
SP: Clay Buchholz vs. Chien-Ming Wang
tv/radio: NESN – MLB.TV – WRKO

This is your only chance to watch the Sox take on the Yanks this weekend without having to endure Tim McCarver or Joe Morgan. Enjoy it while it lasts. Anyone else hoping for a repeat appearance from the hawk?

Use the comments to this entry as your own personal Gameday open thread. These open threads have been fun so far – so I’ll keep ‘em up as long as y’all are interested in having them.

    TG – Got it. :)

I DON’T BELIEVE IT! Lopez got a lefty out!

    Aw, haha. Dustin slipped.

  6. 2008 April 11 at 9:24 pm

He did? Awww! (Sure it’s not Jed? Okay, kidding. He just seems like a bit of a klutz.)

Awww, jennifer- missing two sox-yanks games is tough to take. But, it’s not over til it’s over… or something. :)

Matsui is just not an attractive man.

    A-a-r-d-s-m-a! (duh duh duh)

Seriously–whose idea was it to bring Lopez in to face Abreu (a lefty), A-Rod, and Matsui (another lefty)?

Matsui is hideous. Amazingly, someone actually married him not too long ago.

Lopez STILL can’t get anybody out.

If he doesn’t let up a run, I’ll be happy.

Ah, yes, Matsui did marry recently and won a bet with his teammates though Jerry thought he married a picture and not a real person. Don O corrected him.

For some reason, I really find that silly and fun this evening.

  17. 2008 April 11 at 9:31 pm

At least I won’t have to deal with the McCarver or the Morgan?

And, hey, I get home a little after midnight on Sunday, so who knows? It’s entirely possible I’ll catch a few innings of that one. *g*

Stanford ties the game up 6-6 in the top of the fifth.

(Sorry, couldn’t resist. It’s Masterson’s fault. Long story.)

  36. 2008 April 11 at 9:44 pm

I really kind of wish Matsui and Melky had collided there.

1863, they need to make like Abreu. So patient at the plate. I must say, he’s one of the few Yankees who I like, but I wish he weren’t having such a good time in the field tonight.

1863, expect some loud noises near you–the Penguins just broke a 3-3 tie with a minute left.

  45. 2008 April 11 at 9:48 pm

A combination of good stuff from Wang, everything hit hard going right to a fielder save for Drew’s homer, and an umpire that loves that low and inside call has made this a good outing for Wang. I still say he’s overrated, but he’s got it going tonight. So I guess I should begrudgingly tip my cap to him.

However, I expect a lot different tomorrow(or Sunday…depending if tomorrow gets rained out or not)

  46. 2008 April 11 at 9:48 pm

This is pretty much the most important thing they stress to the Sox Minor Leaguers – they make sure they learn how to work counts. That’s why Youk is now known as the ‘Greek God of Walks’ – he was especially good at it. Dustin normally is, too. In general, it’s one of the most important skills our boys down on the farm learn.

Can we put in Jed just for shits in the bottom of the ninth? It would make my otherwise crappy baseball day much better…

(Or are they saving him for Saturday so we can have Stanford vs. Stanford? Mussina’s starting tomorrow…)
