In my many years of Yankees fandom I have seen Yanks fans beating the shit out of Red Sox fans and Red Sox fans returning the favor–and I thought that was extreme until I heard about this. I count many Red Sox fans among my closest friends and yes, I have met asshats on both sides, usually after alcohol has been added.

Sox fans can claim no moral superiority in this battle of idiocy- it could just as easily been a Sox fan behind the wheel.

i read about this…i live about 20 min north of there….it’s awful….rivalry’s are suppose to be fun…jeez, i grew up in NJ, surrounded by yankees fans, but I don’t hate them….whatever happened to frienly competition….i think it was last year i read about a red sox fan getting beat up in NY…..or how about what happened in Montreal after they beat the Bruins….come on people…i mean I love baseball….but it’s only a sport

Personally, I ~~hate~~ greatly dislike the majority of the Yankees (Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes get a free pass from me), but one of my closet friends is a Yankees fan. I mean, she has the same gag reaction to the name “Pedro Martinez” that I have to “Alex Rodriguez.” That doesn’t mean we aren’t great friends.

I saw that. Disgusting.

There’s a big part of me that believes that the Yanks-Sox rivalry is being used as an outlet for people’s frustrations in general. I’ve also seen a huge surge in road rage problems too… times are tough and people are unhappy. Still no excuse, but I don’t believe it’s all about the baseball.

And the lighter note I’ll end on is that OF COURSE it happened in New Hampshire. Buncha weirdos up there. (Anyone here from NH? Sorry about that… but I’ve heard what you say about Massholes, so let’s call it fair.)
