I’m thinking this game is not going to get played tonight and we’ll be watching the C’s instead.

Oh my…wasn’t aware of the weather issues until I saw your comment, Ian, and decided to jump on Intellicast. Impressive animated radar loop you guys have going on up there.

  4. 2008 May 16 at 6:40 pm

I’ll probably be watching the Mets/Yanks game, unless that gets rained out…

  5. 2008 May 16 at 6:41 pm

Me, too, TG. I went a whole ENTIRE DAY yesterday without baseball (unless you count the awesome videos that you posted)!

  6. 2008 May 16 at 6:47 pm

Yay for TG’s video posts! I thoroughly enjoyed those.

Hey nj, is Mets/NYY on national TV?

  7. 2008 May 16 at 6:51 pm

It’s officially in a rain delay now.

  8. 2008 May 16 at 6:52 pm

ECL, it’s not blacked out on YES Network, so I guess it’s not national…
    Sunday’s game will be, though!

No problem, ecl – posting videos is pretty much my favorite thing to do. So it works out well! :)

  10. 2008 May 16 at 6:52 pm

Nope Yanks/Mets are on national tv tomorrow and Sunday

  11. 2008 May 16 at 6:54 pm

I lied. Just Sunday’s game is on national tv ESPN.

I’m quite shocked they aren’t the FOX game tomorrow.

  12. 2008 May 16 at 6:54 pm

TG, I sent you an e-mail a little while ago, and I was wondering whether or not you received it. I don’t remember if I put a subject or not, so it might have gone to your spam folder…

Thanks for the news, Ian…I guess I’ll go watch Santana now.

  13. 2008 May 16 at 6:55 pm

Saturday’s game is on here as well, nj! I’ve planned my entire weekend around watching those two games.

Well, if tonight ends up being rained out, I can catch up on lots of baseball related stuff on line. I also owe e-mail replies to a whole lot of people. What to do first, she asks, pressing finger to forehead…

  14. 2008 May 16 at 6:55 pm

I’m probably going watch a little Johan myself followed by some KG if the Sox aren’t on. It’s been a rough 32 hours.

  15. 2008 May 16 at 6:56 pm

Oh that’s right, Ian…I already have this week’s Sunday Night Baseball flagged as “should watch if I get a chance.” Sorry to miss Santana pitch tonight, though!

  17. 2008 May 16 at 6:58 pm

I sowwy Ian (about the rough 32 hours). :-(

(okay, gotta get back to this project, promised a very important faculty member I’d finish it before I went home tonight…will be back in a few).

HEY! I’ll trade weather with you New Englanders. We have way too much sun and heat–100 degrees right now and hotter tomorrow.

So the Yanks are rain delay, too? Is this Santana’s night?

ecl…I’m in Sacramento, CA. We have an early heat wave due to a few different factors (perfect storm of heat ;-). I’ve got the A/C going, the ceiling fan flying and an iced cold root beer (waiting for hubby to come home to open the white wine).

We usually get a lot of heat in the summer, but have had mild summers on occasion. We had 15 days of over 100 degree heat. 15 straight freakin’ days! Our neighborhood is only a couple years old, so the trees aren’t helpful yet.

blood and whiskey, congrats to your brother! That’s exciting.

My BIL and family were at the Mother’s Day Miracle last year–said it was one of the best games he’d seen.

This just came out on the Pro Jo Sox Blog:

Red Sox minor-league first baseman Anthony Rizzo has been diagnosed with limited stage classical Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The Red Sox just released a statement, saying the 18-year-old is being treated as an out-patient at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Oncology Unit.

Rizzo will return home to Miami in the next few days to continue his treatment, which is expected to take 6-8 months, according to the release.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Anthony and his family at this very difficult time,” said Red Sox GM Theo Epstein. “We are optimistic about his recovery and look forward to the day he can return to the playing field.”

The Red Sox selected Rizzo in the sixth round of the 2007 draft. He was hitting .373 with 11 RBI at Single-A Greenville.

I was at the Mother’s Day Miracle game as well. Sat right on top of the bullpen, met Paps, he gave me his warmup ball when we were all going batshit insane in the bleachers after the win. Yeah… it was a pretty good game. ;)

b&w, yes congrats to your brother!

jules, I don’t know how you folks out west can stand that kind of heat. I wilt and actually become ill once the temps edge above 85. Fortunately, here in the NC mountains that only happens sporadically during the summer…at least usually that’s the case. Last summer it was upper 80s/low 90s for several weeks straight. And I don’t have AC at home. Misery, pure misery! So I feel for ya!

I *love* our air conditioner and we have ceiling fans in nearly every room. We have very little humidity, which does make it more, er, somewhat tolerable. I’m from the San Francisco Bay Area and it’s *much* cooler and breezier there. You’d think that after 30 years, I’d be used to Sacramento summers, but nope. Still HATE them. /whine

    Texy…I’m *officially* jealous.

I’ve decided that next year, I’m getting Sox/A’s tickets for the area by the visiting pen because the pen is close to the fans and looks like a big party.

I don’t know what weather forecast the Red Sox were looking at but this doesn’t look promising.
