    Yay, 5 runs!

  2. 2008 May 21 at 9:02 pm

Hansen scared me for a minute. That 56 looks awfully close to 58.

  3. 2008 May 21 at 9:10 pm

Remy and DO get so distracted sometimes.

  4. 2008 May 21 at 9:27 pm

    Hellooooooooooo?

  5. 2008 May 21 at 9:29 pm

    Helloooooooo!!!!

I’ve been eating, doing dishes, etc. Why is everyone else so quiet?

  6. 2008 May 21 at 9:35 pm

I’m quiet because there’s nobody else here!

    But good job Lopez :)

  7. 2008 May 21 at 9:37 pm

because they are watching the American Idol finale that’s why.

I’m just laying here. I’ve got a wicked pissah of a headache about to get off the computer for a while because the screen isn’t helping matters.

  8. 2008 May 21 at 9:38 pm

Jacoby’s 3-for-3 so far tonight. Wooo.

    Feel better Ian. :)

  9. 2008 May 21 at 9:38 pm

Yeah, he did a nice job there! I wonder where everyone is.

The next week is going to be sort of odd as far as games, with that West Coast trip…and the day game tomorrow..

    Yeah, Jacoby!

  10. 2008 May 21 at 9:39 pm

Awww, Ian. It must be the day for that. I woke up with one. I hope you feel better.

I just realized that I’m going to miss *8 GAMES!!1!* between tomorrow and next Saturday.. x[

  12. 2008 May 21 at 9:41 pm

I wonder how many SB he’ll end up with this year?

  13. 2008 May 21 at 9:41 pm

    Pleatsssssss

  14. 2008 May 21 at 9:42 pm

I’m missing tomorrow’s game. Bleh. I want to see Daisuke!

I miss seeing Dice-K! I haven’t seen him in foreveerrr.

  16. 2008 May 21 at 9:44 pm

(looking at schedule)…the only one I’ll definitely be able to catch in its entirety is the game this Sunday afternoon. I’ll probably check in at times tomorrow afternoon and MAYBE will listen to the Saturday night game — 9:05 is doable as long as it doesn’t turn into a marathon. But 10:10 starts? I’ll have to say hi and bye.

The first game at a normal time will be on Manny’s birthday, by the way!

  17. 2008 May 21 at 9:45 pm

Are you in class tomorrow, Liza?

  18. 2008 May 21 at 9:46 pm

Sadly, yeah. School, then a 4:00 softball game, so there’s exactly no possibility I’d catch the game. Fun.

  19. 2008 May 21 at 9:46 pm

Bah — I have to miss a week from Sunday (or part of it) because the first haircut appointment I could get (desperately needed) is at 1:00 that day.

    Awwww, Pleats. :-(

  20. 2008 May 21 at 9:47 pm

Fun? No, NOT fun! Ah well, school will be out soon enough, yes?

    C’mon Manny…

    ..this guys name is Gobble?
    (chuckles immaturely)

  22. 2008 May 21 at 9:48 pm

School gets out June 20 for me.

And a week from Sunday is my birthday! (/little kid)

  23. 2008 May 21 at 9:48 pm

    Or not… :-(

  24. 2008 May 21 at 9:52 pm

b&w, the WRKO announcers are having lots of fun with Gobble’s name.

Liza, I’ve been in the South so long that I’m ALMOST used to school getting out in early May and starting in early August! When I was growing up in NY June 20 was about par for the course, and school started the Wednesday after Labor Day.

Nothing “little kid” about a birthday — happy early birthday!

Now that was weird…Papi stole a base but it didn’t count because of Mikey’s K.

  25. 2008 May 21 at 9:56 pm

We usually go by a schedule like your NY one–the week after Labor Day, we’re back in school, and sometime between June 15 and 25, we leave for summer vacation.

And thanks. :) I’m asking for a #24 jersey (home whites–and no name, dammit!) and a copy of Lowell’s book. (Though tickets to McCoy or Hadlock–or Fenway–wouldn’t be bad, either!)

  26. 2008 May 21 at 10:05 pm

I think the Labor Day to June schedule is pretty standard in the urban areas up Northeast. The rationale for August to May down here historically had to do with having to help on family farms and I think also with the intense Southern heat where the old schools had no A/C. Nowadays neither are as much of a concern but it’s just tradition here.

A #24 jersey…(drooling)…hope you get it! And Lowell’s book. AND tickets! Your interests are in the right place for sure! :-)

  27. 2008 May 21 at 10:06 pm

So are folks here going to try to catch the late games this coming week? Or will it be “catch up on game news the next day” like me?

  28. 2008 May 21 at 10:08 pm

Aw, Coco… nice shot by Lugo though.

I’m dying for an actual jersey. I have 4 player shirts (blue Papelbon, blue Ramirez, red Buchholz, red Ellsbury–oh, plus my old blue Damon one from ‘03 that I still can’t bear to throw out), but I don’t have an actual jersey. I want one SO badly.

  29. 2008 May 21 at 10:11 pm

I’ll watch if I can. I don’t usually get to sleep until about 1 even with the 7:05 starts, so it makes no sense to skip the late games.

  30. 2008 May 21 at 10:12 pm

I would LOVE a jersey or a batting practice shirt. I have a couple-three player shirts and am aiming to get a couple more. But the jerseys and etc. are just SO expensive…way out of my budget right now.

  31. 2008 May 21 at 10:14 pm

LOL about the Damon shirt. I still have a couple of shirts from my old days as a NYY fan that I don’t want to part with. They have definitely deteriorated to loungewear status, though, so nobody really sees them.

    Awwww, Pleats. I was hoping…

  32. 2008 May 21 at 10:18 pm

I usually go to bed sometime in the 11:00 hour on weeknights, but if I’m not careful that can easily become 12-something. My job is stressful enough that I can’t really push it that late for more than a couple of nights, because I get too irritable when I’m sleep deprived. So…what I’ll have to do next week, most likely, is get myself all ready for bed, listen to a couple-three innings, and then do my best to tear myself away from it and go to bed. (sigh)

The one upside is that I’ll be able to get some other stuff done around the house in the evenings and catch up on my e-mails.

So they’re talking about it raining hard at Fenway. Didn’t know that was in the forecast. Good thing it’s the 9th!

  33. 2008 May 21 at 10:18 pm

I can’t bear to look at the thing, but it’s the first piece of baseball anything I ever got, so I can’t bear to throw it out either. I totally loved Damon, so I almost cut it to shreds when he signed with the Yanks, but I decided to save it and there’s no way I’m ever throwing it out.

-hey, random question, but has anyone been to Gettysburg? Because I’m making my trek to Washington D.C. on Saturday, and I’m planning on staying overnight on the way, so I was wondering whether or not Gettysburg would be a nice place to spend the night…

    (/another random)

  35. 2008 May 21 at 10:19 pm

It doesn’t seem like it’s raining too hard at Fenway, but it’s definitely coming down here…

I nearly fall asleep at school after particularly late nights (say, the no-no), but I never go to sleep earlier. Shows how well I learn from experience.

  36. 2008 May 21 at 10:21 pm

B&W, you should talk to Steph! Her college is in that area (at least, I think so).

  37. 2008 May 21 at 10:23 pm

b&w, I wish Steph were here — she could answer your question about Gettysburg. Yes, that’s where she goes to school. I’ve been there just once and it was lovely. Fields and historical sites is what I remember.

  38. 2008 May 21 at 10:24 pm

Liza, when I was in school (h.s. and college) I used to stay up really late too. I had trouble staying awake in early classes in college, so made a point to never take a class that was earlier than 10:00 unless I had no choice in the matter.

  39. 2008 May 21 at 10:26 pm

Sounds like me when I get to college. If I had nothing to do at all during days, I’d have a 2AM-to-noon sleep schedule. That’d be perfectly fine with me. :P

  40. 2008 May 21 at 10:29 pm

Okay…I am going to be sensible and start getting ready for bed.

Liza — good luck with your softball game. Everyone else, I’ll stop by tomorrow’s gameday thread at some point. Other than that…who knows, with the road trip? Sunday afternoon for sure!

  41. 2008 May 21 at 10:31 pm

P.S….Liza, my experience was that freshman year I didn’t have much choice in the matter. I had 8:00 classes and dreaded them, and sometimes went on 4 hours of sleep. Once I got to the point where I had a little more leeway with electives, it was all good!

Sounds like you’re a night owl like me! :-)

I finally caved and picked up a month’s worth of MLB.tv. I had heard some bad things about it and was initially skeptical. But so far, it’s been great for me.

    I’ve watched Lester’s no-hitter … more than once.

The more I watch him, the more I realize I don’t hate Kevin Cash. I mean, I love Tek. I grow ill thinking of a Tek-less team. But, yeah, alright. Cash doesn’t bug me. Might be a less than popular opinion, but yeah.

    Dicey-K. Yowzah.
