  2. 2008 May 9 at 9:01 pm

Aw, Manny. Well, you gave it a shot.

Totally not on the baseball topic, but ecl….did you guys get any bad storms up your way today?

Too funny fc! I can only imagine. lol

  4. 2008 May 9 at 9:03 pm

    E friggin six

  5. 2008 May 9 at 9:04 pm

    Now THAT one was E6.

  6. 2008 May 9 at 9:04 pm

    From Extra bases:

Kevin Youkilis reached on wild pitch by Boof Bonser on a strikeout and then proceeded to steal second base. Drum roll: It was Boston’s 21st consecutive stolen base, which according to Elias, is the most bases stolen consecutively by a Red Sox team ever since it became an official statistic in 1920.

  7. 2008 May 9 at 9:05 pm

    That was painful to watch.

  8. 2008 May 9 at 9:06 pm

Bethie, it rained a little bit last night, not even 1/4 inch, though. We have a severe T-storm watch going right now. How about down your way? Scary about that tornado in the Greensboro area.

    And I can’t believe E-6 just did it again…

  9. 2008 May 9 at 9:06 pm

    This is one ugly inning.

  10. 2008 May 9 at 9:07 pm

    UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. It’s JEB TIME NOW.

  11. 2008 May 9 at 9:07 pm

Note to Sox defense: When you have two outs, it’s really good to get the third one.

  12. 2008 May 9 at 9:08 pm

Yeah you should definitely do that, Liza!

This is pretty much my first year getting favorites from other teams. I know it sounds stupid, but other years I was like “red sox, red sox, red sox” and I didn’t really care about anyone else. Right at the beginning of this year (the first game actually) I started seeing them all as individual people and players. Last year the only person from another team I liked was Vlad. Now I’m actually getting other favorites from teams. I’m kind of choosing my favorites as the series go on with different teams we face. Last time (Tigers): Curtis Granderson. This time (Twins, in case you forgot): Joe Mauer.

The only person we don’t agree on is Grady Sizemore. I’m not like in love with him or emotionally attached or anything, but I do like him. Though it’s kind of annoying because he’s a pretty good looking guy and there are all these girl fans that are like “OMFG!!!!1 he’s the only reason I even watch baseball” and there have been things like “Grady Size-is-more” and it’s kind of annoying.

Okay, someone needs to take Lugo behind the shed and kick the shit out of him. Where can I sign up? Dammit butterfingers.

We had a tornado touch down about 3 miles from the house last night, and we had hail earlier tonight and are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 1 AM. Guess spring has officially sprung around here.

  14. 2008 May 9 at 9:09 pm

Check your e-mail, ecl; there’s a nice little surprise wating for you…!

  15. 2008 May 9 at 9:11 pm

Choco, that was me about a year ago. The whole liking-players-from-other-teams thing, that is.

    Sizemore. :P I just… can’t bring myself to like him. I just can’t.

Albaladejo just left the game with an elbow injury.

  17. 2008 May 9 at 9:15 pm

    Jeez… the Yanks can’t catch a break. (Not that I mind…)

Aww, sad!Lugo makes me sad. But not too much.

  18. 2008 May 9 at 9:16 pm

I don’t know if you’ve seen this, but it made me smile and I thought it was cute.

  19. 2008 May 9 at 9:16 pm

    James Shields 9 IP 1 hit 0 runs 8 K’s

angels-rays 0-0 heading to the bottom of the 9th

  20. 2008 May 9 at 9:17 pm

Shields is turning out to be a little Doc Halladay down there.

    Also, AWW @ MDC.

  21. 2008 May 9 at 9:18 pm

OMG Bethie, 3 miles? SCARY! I didn’t know your area got them last night too. One perk of living up here is that the mountains break up severe storm lines, so we almost never have tornadoes, and any that do come through are barely worthy of the name.

nj: Thanks! Soon as I eat, I’ll check my e-mail. Dinner’s almost ready. I definitely need to make sure the attachment will open!

  22. 2008 May 9 at 9:18 pm

Call me a softie, but I kinda felt bad or Lugo there. That was just a really unlucky error. However, I still have no pity for him on the Detroit one. That one sucked.

  23. 2008 May 9 at 9:19 pm

ECL, Ok–just e-mail me back or comment here if it doesn’t work.

  24. 2008 May 9 at 9:20 pm

Looks like MDC has always had those lovely eyes.

One more pre-dinner note: I wish I had time to watch lots of games on TV…I would probably have more favorite players on other teams. My list is fairly short. More on that after I eat.before.I.faint!

  25. 2008 May 9 at 9:21 pm

no no no – what’s wrong with Jon?

  26. 2008 May 9 at 9:22 pm

Aww, Johnny… first the bat, then the leg?

  27. 2008 May 9 at 9:22 pm

Uh-oh. I can’t see anything through the radio, but this doesn’t sound good…

  28. 2008 May 9 at 9:23 pm

It looked pretty scary, but he seems okay.

  29. 2008 May 9 at 9:23 pm

Ian, I think I’m gonna need some video of this later…(please?)

  30. 2008 May 9 at 9:23 pm

Those flying bat splinters were pretty scary too.

  31. 2008 May 9 at 9:24 pm

E-6 just took a pen out and Mike Lowell gave him the lesson on how to field the ball.

It just looked like he hit the bag awkwardly. good thing he’s ok.

sorry NJ i didn’t DVR the game tonight I don’t think.

  33. 2008 May 9 at 9:26 pm

    Ian, That’s okay. I really should get MLB.TV, though…

  34. 2008 May 9 at 9:27 pm

Longoria won the game for the Rays with a walkoff 2-run hummer.

  35. 2008 May 9 at 9:28 pm

NJ check Gameday on MLB.com to see if they put the highlight up.

  36. 2008 May 9 at 9:28 pm

Cool. I like Longoria; I don’t know why, I just think he’s kinda cool.
The Penguins are beating the Flyers 4-2 at the start of the third.

  37. 2008 May 9 at 9:29 pm

    Who doesn’t like Longoria?

    Okay… cmon, JD…

  38. 2008 May 9 at 9:30 pm

Good idea, Ian. Usually they just have scoring plays on GameDay, but sometimes they have some random stuff.

  39. 2008 May 9 at 9:32 pm

You can tell me how smart I am now since I just checked and it’s there.

  40. 2008 May 9 at 9:32 pm

You’re right, Ian (like usual). They did have it up already. Ow, that looked pretty painful…

Hey I had to check out for awhile…one question: can someone please tell me that Lugo is not responsible for that error on the board

  42. 2008 May 9 at 9:35 pm

Ian is smart but apparently in need of constant reinforcement.

    Oh and what looked painful…?

  44. 2008 May 9 at 9:35 pm

ya gotta love Nick Cafardo from the Boston Globe:

Is it getting to the point where you just feel sorry for Julio Lugo?

It seems every ball hit to him is an adventure. You can tell he’s in that ‘hit it anywhere but to me” mode

  45. 2008 May 9 at 9:37 pm

fc it’s nice to get stroked every now and then. The ego that is. :D

  46. 2008 May 9 at 9:38 pm

Jessi, Lester getting attacked by pieces of a shattered bat then having Morneau slide into him was what looked painful.

  47. 2008 May 9 at 9:38 pm

Credit where credit is due: nice steal by Lugo.

    Bad news for the Twins:

According to general manager Bill Smith, Pat Neshek is expected to miss at least three months and may be sidelined for the remainder of the season with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament.

Smith said that Neshek won’t be allowed to throw for at least three months and added that getting him healthy in time for spring training is the Twins’ current goal. Losing Neshek is a huge blow to the Twins’ bullpen, as he’s gone 11-5 with a 2.91 ERA and 142/37 K/BB ratio in 120 2/3 career innings. Matt Guerrier and Juan Rincon will split setup duties in front of Joe Nathan.

Oh god, that does sound painful – hope he’s ok.

  50. 2008 May 9 at 9:42 pm

Yeah, he’s fine, but it must have been pretty scary to have pieces of a bat flying at him.
