The Powers That Be seem intent on jinxing Manny Ramirez with that giant “496″ in the outfield at Fenway (take it down, guys- that’s what teams like Seattle or San Francisco do)– so I thought I’d counteract that bad mojo with some vintage Manny Being Manny video.

I kinda feel bad for the guy that has to go stand behind those numbers every Manny AB in case he hits one (but then I realize he is getting paid to sit on the Monster and watch the game and can’t feel too bad). Manny will get there eventually. Those two days off seemed to kill his momentum a bit.
They should take them down though. It would be like putting a “___ outs left for the no-hitter!” sign up somewhere. Instant jinx.

This was 2004, the day of a the trading deadline. There were a ton of rumors that he was going to get traded (and that he wanted to be traded), and he wasn’t in the lineup that night. However, he came out to PH in the 8th or 9th and got the game-winner.
