Someone Else Is Getting Testy

Jonathan Papelbon was not pleased with his blown save performance last night (even though neither of the runs in the ninth inning were earned by him), and this water cooler is going to pay the price.

FEEL THE WRATH, WATER COOLER!

This isn’t the first time a poor, hapless water cooler at Comerica has been made to feel the pain of a Papelbon cleat. I think those Detroit water coolers must just be asking for it.

And of course, here’s video of the cooler kicking from yesterday – and some postgame lockerrooom reaction from Papelbon as well.

    Oh, Paps.
Those poor coolers….. they didn’t do anything wrong! :P

I love Paps, but dude…the location just wasn’t there. Tek was channeling his inner Inspector Gadget on one of those pitches.

Honestly, it was a sloppy game all around–I’m surprised we even *needed* Paps in the 9th–with the falls and error.

    It’s a new day.

he looks just like the karate kid in that last photo.

i’m not gonna lie, i didn’t enjoy the blown save but the water cooler abuse was…enjoyable.

the interview, though. UGH. i hate to see him so dejected.

“It’s like a heavyweight fight: One little jab punch ain’t going to knock me out,” Papelbon said. “The beauty of it is, we still have a chance to win the series tomorrow. We’re right where we want to be.”

Why didn’t they include this quote in the video? Kid’s still a rock. And BrassNutsBeckett is up tonight. So let’s hope there’s so slip, slide, trip, drop, “bobble” nonsense this evening.

Because those coolers have had enough. And I doubt Lugo wants to die at the hands of two rednecks. Rotissere style over a flame pit. Mmm bar-b-q failure. I love it.

    LOL.

There’s nothing like a little water cooler smackdown action. As long as no pitching hands/arms are hurt in the process, it makes for good TV.

I’m kind of awed by how consistent his cooler-kicking “mechanics” look from year to year.

Is it me or does Placido Polanco look like his brains are attempting to burst out of the sides of his head…

Sam- I know!!! My family was just talking about that last night. It’s so weird looking.

And did anyone notice tonight when Julio got out he threw his helmet and IT KNOCKED OVER ALL THE CUPS! There were like 100 cups! They all fell on the (very dirty) ground, making them totally useless. I was so depressed, I called my mom and complained about it. :)

love slo-mo pics of flyin watercoolers! (obviously don’t wish it was Paps though)

how quick did everyone in the background vanish from the first pic to the second?! haha can’t say I really blame em

in much better news, did anyone catch Paps on the best damn sports show period the other night? i learned many interesting things, such as the fact that tavarez likes to order hot dogs from vendors for the bullpen guy during the game…
