Sox Video Roundup
Let’s play a little game of catchup, shall we – and get caught up on all the Sox video goodness from the last few games.
First up: David Ortiz mocking Tito Francona in the dugout.
Next: some postgame remarks from Josh Beckett after his fairly crappy outing Tuesday against the O’s.

Now that NESN censors his postgame press conferences, here’s what was NOT included:
“It’s (fucking) horrible. That’s the only (fucking) word for it,” Beckett said last night at Camden Yards, where the Red Sox dropped a 5-4 decision to the Baltimore Orioles. “You can’t give up as many hits as you get outs when you have my (fucking) stuff. (Fucking) terrible.“I think everybody in this room holds me to the standard (he holds himself to). I think they’re all shocked how (fucking) (shitty) I can be at times. I think everybody in here knows I should be able to get more than 17 (fucking) outs in a game.”
After the jump, more Papi and Manny videos…
Tuesday night also wasn’t so great for Big Papi – especially the homeplate umpire calling him out on strikes in the 9th inning, when Papi was so sure he was moving out of the way of the last pitch (not check swinging his way into a K). Uncharacteristically, Papi explodes at the ump – most likely because it’s the 9th inning, so who cares – and then takes his sweet ass time exiting for the clubhouse while the ump stares at him.

Manny Ramirez fancies himself a potential Gold Glover with this spectacular catch in the outfield yesterday – which he naturally has to follow up with a high-five for a Sox fan in the outfield stands. And then all the guys in the dugout want to watch the replay…

Not only did Manny make that amazing catch then high-five the fan, but he turned a double-play while doing it.
Unbelievable.
That game was madness. And for as much as I enjoy continued press conferrence examples of Beckett’s badassness, I do feel bad that this time it comes at his own expense. Someone hug him, hand him a 40, tell him it’s only May, and bring in the birthday themed dancing ladies wearing antlers and lace. Homeboy needs to perk up.
And as for Papi? Ouch. Owwwwwwww. That was just gross. So that was a legit check swing? Like, honestly? I think they need to redefine such an event. The bat didn’t even leave his shoulder! It was clear he was moving out of the way. Garbage.
Now on to the happy Manny clip. It almost makes me forget the Payton slam that Oki so kindly delivered. Why? Because it’s a shiny, sparkly, happy reminder that Tampa should not get too comfy up there at number one when our boys can do THAT.
Thanks for the clips, Texy!
JB will be fine next game but agree he needs to improve his vocab.
Thanks for posting this, couldn’t find it at NESN this time.
I love that – so cute when they all lean in to see it. you know they were all like “how’d you DO that?”
Even without the f-bombs that’s a pretty classic Josh post-crappy-game press conference. Getting in “executing pitches” twice in thirty seconds, the uncomfortable silence after “same question he just asked me” … and did I see an eye roll? I do believe I did.
Yeah, hug and a beer, he needs one. Or seven.
Yay, awesome videos! Thanks so much, Texy. :)
“You execute pitches, you get outs. You don’t execute pitches, you don’t get outs. It’s pretty simple.”
“Same question he just asked.”
“There was a lot of unexecuted pitches tonight.”
Josh’s angry post-game reactions are always so magnificent.
What they didnt show in the Papi clip was him screaming at the umpire from the dugout right before the clip they show of him. i dont think it was just he didnt know he was ejected like they said he was pretty pissed down there about 30 seconds before they cut back to the live feed. I think i made it in the clip though, right when hes walking into the dugout in the upper left theres a guy in an away red sox jersey which is right about where i was sitting, cant see the face to make sure its me but i dont remember anyone else around me with one on.
I honestly feel bad for the reporters who talk to beckett, he can be so mean. even when he is asked good questions-he wants to be difficult
don’t get me wrong, sometimes they ask some stupid questions, but there’s only so many questions you can ask someone after a game, so you’re bound to get repetitive.
Loved the videos. I previously e-mailed you about the Big Papi video when he was behind Terry Francona – loved that one. And Manny’s catch, of course. I second that it was so cute when they all leaned in to see the replay (hint hint…Jacoby Ellsbury…now he was just adorable). Josh Beckett on the other hand, he seems like such an ass sometimes. Jeez – this guy needs a vacation. I’d pay money just to see him crack a joke or laugh at something. Gawd.
Thanks for posting all this! Kudos!
