    Looks like another rain delay.

I hope Lester throws an excellent game today.

  2. 2008 June 22 at 1:39 pm

It’s a little cloudy here on the South Shore, but no rain yet. That probably means if it’s raining at Fenway, we’ll get it in about 30 minutes.

  3. 2008 June 22 at 1:44 pm

The skies opened in like a monsoon Somerville for a few minutes, then it was over, so I suspect the delay won ‘t be long.

The best thing about rain delays is that NESN replays “The Ultimate Red Sox Show,” which is always blacked out for me. Today is all about Manny. I’m cracking up over the old footage of Manny, with tighter pants and short hair. I love this guy.

  5. 2008 June 22 at 1:56 pm

any idea how long this delay is going to be? the weather maps look hideous. wah. I NEED LESTER.

Wish I had NESN so I could see Manny in tighter pants! /shallow. I love this guy too…but you already knew that.

ha, ecl! I thought of you when they started showing the Manny episode. It’s hard to get work done with a solid show of Manny highlights ;-)

The delay is timely because I just got off the phone and haven’t eaten yet today (I AM STARVING!), but I hope this game gets played…I’m so ready to see our guys.

Estimated time for the first pitch is 2:25.

  10. 2008 June 22 at 2:02 pm

LOL jules, you know me too well. FWIW, I like him best with the dreads. He’s so damn pretty, and they bring that out very well.

The weather radar that I’m picking up (zoomed in on wunderground.com) shows rain to the south and northwest of Boston proper, but not over the city itself. Are they just delaying in anticipation of that moving through?

  11. 2008 June 22 at 2:03 pm

2:25…scrambling to get some food. Thanks for the heads up!

    It’s clearing up now.

I love Manny because he’s a goofball, but works so hard at his game–a great combination.

  13. 2008 June 22 at 2:08 pm

Jules, I love him for those reasons as well, plus I love seeing those blasts out of the park. So I’m not just being shallow…

We’re getting it now up north. My electricity keeps flickering. It better not go out.

  15. 2008 June 22 at 2:24 pm

No surprise that we suck at defense – considering we have Mr. E6.

  16. 2008 June 22 at 2:25 pm

Hoping I can finish cooking this omelet before the game starts…probably not!

It’s about time. I hate rain delays. :(

Good going Jon! He’s looking all determined today.

  19. 2008 June 22 at 2:29 pm

Bethie, I was thinking that about Jon too.
    He has a look.

  20. 2008 June 22 at 2:29 pm

I was thinking when I poked my head in at the TV that Jon’s facial expression was a bit Beckettesque today.

It’s F-I-E-R-C-E. When he walked away after that first K, and I saw the look on his face……I got a little skeered. :)

But hey, it led to a 10 pitch first. I’ll take it.

  22. 2008 June 22 at 2:32 pm

I’ll get a chance to see it more clearly once these damned eggs finish cooking!

Sounds like Jacoby just got robbed…

Okay, WTF was that? He trips and hangs on to the ball???

    Amazing.

    :::::crickets:::::

Off to the other room to hunker down w/TV. Go BATS!

  25. 2008 June 22 at 2:52 pm

The bats are looking rather blah out there today.

  26. 2008 June 22 at 2:56 pm

Maybe the second time through the lineup will be the charm.

  27. 2008 June 22 at 3:13 pm

    Nice dive Ells!

  28. 2008 June 22 at 3:13 pm

    That was simply spectacular!

  29. 2008 June 22 at 3:22 pm

TG, you’re right, the bats are blah today. :-(

    Great catch by Ellsbury.

  34. 2008 June 22 at 3:28 pm

Our entire outfield rocks. All of them make me smile. So good, so good, soooo good!

  35. 2008 June 22 at 3:31 pm

Weather radar update: I can’t get the animation to work, but there’s a fierce little cell from Waltham through Quincy and somewhat southeast.

  36. 2008 June 22 at 3:32 pm

Uh oh – big thunderclaps. No rain though.

A month-long internship for the Sox? How much fun would THAT be? Do they need UI designers? heeheheee

  38. 2008 June 22 at 3:32 pm

I just switched weather sites…going to see if I can figure out what direction that cell is moving.

  39. 2008 June 22 at 3:34 pm

Based on the increasing thunder, it’s moving towards Boston.

  40. 2008 June 22 at 3:34 pm

    Oops, not this time, Covelli.

It’s storm time in Florida. Very dark, lightning. Yesterday, there was a tornado 15miles from me.

I’m getting epic lightning and thunder, but not rain at the moment.

Great outfield defense by Joco today… although that was not some nice baserunning.

  43. 2008 June 22 at 3:36 pm

The entire weather system over New England is moving southwest to northeast, if that helps any. Doesn’t look like there’s anything heading in the direction of Boston other than that one cell, which isn’t very big.

  44. 2008 June 22 at 3:38 pm

Looks like a brush-by kind of storm…just grazing the western side of the city.

  45. 2008 June 22 at 3:38 pm

Betcha they bring out the tarp and wait it out.

  46. 2008 June 22 at 3:39 pm

Karen, we’re getting pop-up T-storms here in WNC right now as well. The radar for the Eastern seaboard is rather impressive at the moment. Lines of storms everywhere.

  47. 2008 June 22 at 3:39 pm

And we have contact – raining again.

  48. 2008 June 22 at 3:40 pm

This is what Florida is like in the summer. Not sure how safe I am with the laptop in my lap with lightning, but hoping I will be good. Torrential rain now, and lots of thunder and lightning. There are worse cells coming straight for me. Hoping it doesn’t come until after the game.
