What is it with pitchers being left in too long?D:

  4. 2008 July 20 at 8:30 pm

Uh, fc…yeah, we did need a cushion. And Wakey shouldn’t have come out for the 8th. Dammit.

  5. 2008 July 20 at 8:30 pm

    GRRRRRRRRRRRR

    :::crosses all fingers and toes:::

  7. 2008 July 20 at 8:33 pm

It’s very easy to second-guess decisions to leave a pitcher in – I know, I do it all the time. But with 7 strong innings, and our bullpen such as it is, I can see leaving Wake in.

I can’t believe Wake’s in line for another ND after another good start.

  20. 2008 July 20 at 8:40 pm

(i probably just seriously offended my very religious next-door neighbors with the screamed torrent of cuss words that just came out of my mouth)

  21. 2008 July 20 at 8:42 pm

ecl, just invoke deities, then say you were praying. Emphatically.

  22. 2008 July 20 at 8:42 pm

I just had a really bad feeling when they made that pitching change.

HA — fc, I just realized that they’re probably still over in the next county. They go to church out there and usually spend all day and night there on Sundays.

I’m watching the Espys red carpet on commercials. Sports Athletes in suits, is improving my mood.

  26. 2008 July 20 at 8:45 pm

I had to chuckle when I took a look at the players list on mlb.com after the announcers said Izturis is the half-brother of Cesar Izturis. Born within a few months of each other. Their papi must have been a busy fellow.

  27. 2008 July 20 at 8:46 pm

Are we really pinch hitting Casey? Finally? Let’s hope it’s enough.

  28. 2008 July 20 at 8:47 pm

    That was a strike??

Three losses in a row? Yeah, it’s gonna take a lot more than random athletes dressed up for fake awards to improve my mood.

Well, my mood was gone to begin with today. My brother-in-law died last nite. So anything is good for me now.

  31. 2008 July 20 at 8:51 pm

    Baseball is a cruel game.

  32. 2008 July 20 at 8:52 pm

In that case, Karen – you are a much stronger person than I, to be able to stomach this series on top of personal tragedy. My condolences to you and your family.

  36. 2008 July 20 at 8:53 pm

    My condolences, Karen.

  37. 2008 July 20 at 8:54 pm

And now the Espys. How festive.

That was crapola. They were flatly outplayed. Pitching wasn’t shitty, hitting wasn’t shitty, fielding wasn’t shitty… the Angels just played like exactly what they are: the best team in baseball.

Thanks, he was 43 and leaves two kids, 7 and 1 1/2. The hardest part for me, is not being able to afford to go to the funeral. I don’t have the money. I’m gonna go try to eat.

    My condolences Karen.

    Now on to the Mariners.

Anyone remember how well that road series worked out earlier this year? :)

  41. 2008 July 20 at 8:56 pm

The Angels are excellent. I enjoy watching them. So many great players. I just hate when their wins come at our expense.

I would KILL for Erin Andrews’ dress. She is so gorgeous.

  43. 2008 July 20 at 8:57 pm

Awww, Karen. Just 43…that’s painful. Again, my heartfelt condolences.

  44. 2008 July 20 at 8:57 pm

Condolences especially to his kids – that’s rough.

  45. 2008 July 20 at 8:59 pm

No ESPYs for me. I have some computer maintenance ish to deal with, and some e-mails to write. But first, dinner.

And I probably will be *mostly* absent between now and Friday. Just can’t do the 10 pm starts and a day game during the week. I may peek in at the beginning of the night games, etc. Will be raring to go on Friday. I’m really looking forward to the NY series and having Papi back.
