Okay, now we must pray that this doesn’t go from an “oh crap” to an “oh fuck” situation with Okie coming in.
And more on the joba thing, throwing at a batter is a chicken shit thing to do. I’ve always thought so. You got a beef with someone and wanna be a man about it?? Find them after the game and punch them in the face. Don’t fire off a 97 MPH fastball at their head. It’s a fucking idiotic thing to do.
Turns out my rant wasn’t over either. :)
From what I’ve heard/read/observed, he seems to be a pretty nice guy. He’s good friends with Buch, for one, and is very enthusiastic and sweet.
Plus, I agree with Remy on today’s incident–that is not a situation in which you try and hit someone: a 2-0 count when your team is ahead by just one is not when you want to purposely be throwing outside the strike zone. I still don’t know what to make of last year’s over-the-head pitches and could only listen on the radio during the July 4 series.
Basically, he’s filed under “innocent-until-proven-guilty” in my book.

While we don’t know what happened with it last year, when it happened the first time, the time this year may have stemmed from the Youk slide into Joba at home plate although Joba wasn’t positioned properly. Tonight’s must have been a carry over from that.
I don’t know what to make of Joba, actually. I read a very lengthy article on his life story, though, and it was heartwrenching. Kid came from literally nothing to get where he is now.

Maybe it’s just my pacifistic nature, but I just don’t get the intense vengefulness that crops up in sports rivalries. Ugh.

Adding on…I also hate pitcher duels. They’re fucking boring as hell. This also wasn’t much of a pitcher’s duel since the umpires strike zone was about a mile wide.
I also hate that now Joba is gonna be praised as the greatest pitcher after shutting down the Sox.
