Red Sox Nation vs. Rays Republic

Now this is how you do a Rays-Sox rivalry article. Concise. Witty. Slightly mean, yet not douchebaggy. But most of all… funny. “Proudly Affleck-free since 1998″? Hilarious. The Varitek jab stings, but it’s true… so they got us there. And I definitely support anything that is anti-Fever Pitch. That, my friends, is how it is done.
Are you paying attention, St. Petersburg Times? When even the title of your article in a major print newspaper is unprofessional – not to mention lame and not at all humorous – you need to go back to the drawing board.

HERE! HERE!
that was seriously funny, i’m impressed.
the Tamper article was written by Tom Jones!
but can i buy a cliff floyd rays shirt online?? noooooo.
can i buy a number shirt for ANY rays player online? noooo.
that they should take some lessons from y’all on.
Is Jose Caneseco really a reason for us to want to be Rays fans?! I try to pretend he never played here and Tampa Bay should do the same.
i left a nasssssssssttttttttttty comment. they became fans like today. and that article? ten reasons to hate the rays!
Rays “bandwagon fans” suck. That’s all I can say. Never in my life had I had such an awful experience at 3 games. My car was defaced in their parking lot, I was demeaned when I had to walk past certain people, I saw people getting hit with brooms. It was absolutely barbaric, and all I could think of was TG’s experience in Cleveland. What’s sadly comical is that last night, security was throwing out Rays fans left & right.
What tops the article off more, is that a news station began asking random people questions about the Rays and the majority still think that Evan Longoria has a hot sister….or didn’t even know who was pitching for them…THAT NIGHT.
…..and I had to laugh that the article was written by a Tom Jones, I mean.. how, um, original!
Sawks fans rule!!!

Alright. As a Tampa Bay native, I must admit, I’ve only been interested in the Rays the past couple of seasons. But cut us a break! They were absolutely TERRIBLE! You are forgetting how young this franchise is…we haven’t been around that long at all. That said, I WAS a fan before this season, and I’m not huge on all of the new supporters. My family still reps the ugly green and purple from the good ol’ days and the phrase “D-Rays for life” is used often. We were there for ‘Country Night’, and I was ready to shoot some people sitting next to me.
HOWEVER…Red Sox fans are so common these days it’s ridiculous. Yes, I know there is ‘Red Sox Nation’ and truly die-hard fans, but I’m pretty sure that Boston INVENTED the ‘bandwagon’ fans. I’m sure half of the supposed Sox fans couldn’t name five players on the team.
Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics…all of those teams have HUGE amount of bandwagon fans. C’mon.
Yeah! I have respect for the true Red Sox fans, because they have been through a lot, and deserve to cheer for a winning team. But Sox fans should embrace the Rays fans. You guys have been around since 1901! We’ve been around since 1998! Give us some time to develop a fan base here! And I think you guys can relate to a team that has been beaten up by the Yankees for years and can now FINALLY give them a run for their money. We can all just look at the bright side…the Yankees can get their butt kicked by TWO divisional teams now!
