Yankee Killer

It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it. And after Friday’s disappointment, and Saturday’s horror show, Jon Lester is that somebody.

For pulling the Sox up out of suckage by the scruff of the neck, Jon Lester gets my Baseball Boyfriend of the Day honors. A very honorable mention goes to Big Papi’s tater-pounding bat.

I’m a little bit in love.

As are two of my best friends… who are guys. Man crushes aplenty. This love may even trump their respective obsessions with Tom Brady. And that’s saying something.

    I’m loving Lester…a lot.

Is it too much to declare him an ace? He seems to have a useful knack of preventing freefalls and completely blanked the Yanks. Bases loaded, no outs – scored on a ball Mikey was waiting to go foul and then a walk. I love Beckett, but Lester seems to be outperforming him this year.

    Just awesome.

How wonderful was it to see Papi back! Not just hitting (but how much was that needed!), but smiling in the dugout. Hopefully he can help get Manny’s head right.

Jon Lester is officially amazing. His record against the Yankees this season? 2-0, 1.13 ERA in two starts.

    We love him.

I’m a huge fan of Lester. How come he’s called Crabcakes?

Let’s just all bow down and worship at his feet, shall we? He seems to be the Sox’s stopper this year while Beckket deals with…well, whatever Josh has to deal with.

Jon is amazing. I think I love him more every time I see him.

I never suspected there was greatness lurking. Jon, please accept my apologies. (Aw, look, his ears are curling up, all bashful.)
