Hey all! I was up in New Hampshire last week camping and didn’t get a chance to watch much baseball at all. I did see part of Clay’s game in Baltimore but only the first 2 innings.

Did I miss any big news while I was gone?

I fear my sweet Georgia peach is done for the season. And I am…not happy. Not happy at all.

DO: “Sox are 2-13 on artificial turf.”

Me: we can put a man on the moon, but artificial turf is the best we can do?

fc, I fear you are right. I feel for him, he was having such a great year.

Unrelated question, from what era are these blue unis? I’m thinking 80s.

The 80’s are right. They wore them when they broke into the league in 1980.

How long does it take to recover from a herniated disc and does it need surgery? I’m really sad that it happened to him.

I should say – does anyone know?

I remember the SD Padres unis in the 70s (maybe 80s) with the orange and yellow. Scary stuff, indeed.

Orange and yellow unis? Thats kinda gross.

    Ellen, I don’t know, but i imagine it’ll be a while.

Herniated discs rarely need surgery, and it’s different for everybody, but most people will be fully recovered within a month. I would think that JD will be out for a little less than 2 weeks, but you never know.

Thanks for the info, Cathy & Jules. I was hoping it was a shorter than longer kind of thing.

jules – wow. I think those may be the worst unis I’ve ever seen.

I would think that pitching to the same team three times *in a row* has to be challenging for a pitcher because they’ve seen so much of his pitches.

    Byrd-K!

My mom hates it when pick-off plays are successful because she thinks it encourages guys to throw over there even more, slowing down the game and lessening her pleasure. (Mom doesn’t think much of baseball in general, can you tell? Hee.)
