Hey all! I was up in New Hampshire last week camping and didn’t get a chance to watch much baseball at all. I did see part of Clay’s game in Baltimore but only the first 2 innings.
Did I miss any big news while I was gone?
Hey all!
I am so ready to watch a classless win!
Gotta love the baby blue unis.
Hey, just checking in. Am still at work — should be home in about 45 minutes. Go Sox!!!
PEDIE!!!!!!!!
Dusty!
TGIF!!!!!
PLEATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s a great way to start the game!
Bad news about JD. I hope he gets better soon.
PEDIE!!!
I fear my sweet Georgia peach is done for the season. And I am…not happy. Not happy at all.
DO: “Sox are 2-13 on artificial turf.”
Me: we can put a man on the moon, but artificial turf is the best we can do?
fc, I fear you are right. I feel for him, he was having such a great year.
Unrelated question, from what era are these blue unis? I’m thinking 80s.
The 80’s are right. They wore them when they broke into the league in 1980.
How long does it take to recover from a herniated disc and does it need surgery? I’m really sad that it happened to him.
I should say – does anyone know?
I remember the SD Padres unis in the 70s (maybe 80s) with the orange and yellow. Scary stuff, indeed.
Orange and yellow unis? Thats kinda gross.
Ellen, I don’t know, but i imagine it’ll be a while.
Byrd…strikes!
Herniated discs rarely need surgery, and it’s different for everybody, but most people will be fully recovered within a month. I would think that JD will be out for a little less than 2 weeks, but you never know.
Erin, my bad, they were yellow and brown.
They’re worse than I thought.
Thanks for the info, Cathy & Jules. I was hoping it was a shorter than longer kind of thing.
Here’s a bit of info.
jules – wow. I think those may be the worst unis I’ve ever seen.
I would think that pitching to the same team three times *in a row* has to be challenging for a pitcher because they’ve seen so much of his pitches.
Byrd-K!
Dammit.
dammit. dammit.
Fuck.
Dammit. Dammit. Dammit
You can stop comparing Lind to McGwire any time now.
Just checking in to say dammit and oh shit. And I hate to hear that JD has a herniated disc. Lots of catching up to do when I get home. See y’all shortly. Bring the bats next inning, guys…
Tek is still hitting well!
Tek! it’s good to see him breaking out of his death slump.
Captain!
I’m glad he found his bat.
Those throwback unis are hideious.
Thank you for greeting me so spectacularly on my tv, Pedey.
Had a great time in Baltimore – even on Wednesday – but it’s nice to be home again.
Kim, the 80s were so fashionable!
:: hides all high school photos ::
Cora!
Lets get runs, guys!
I’m sure this is an unpopular opinion, but I kind of like Toronto’s powder blue pajamas. ;D
That’s awesome that you had a great time, Jenny!
Weren’t they wearing those pretty blue unis for the opening series there?
jules… i’m hiding all my 80’s high school photos too. the big hair was the worst.
every friday home game apparently
Oh. Remy just explained – they wear throwback unis every Friday they’re at home.
fc – I believe they were wearing those unis for the opening series there.
Welcome to the magic of Blue Jays’ “Flashback Fridays.”
Cathy – Thanks! I love catching the Sox at Camden Yards. (I’m psyched my mom moved to Baltimore.)
Whoa, Cora was almost a serious victim of Turf Danger there. o.0
I liked the first inning better where we made Marcum throw more than four pitches. Hrumph.
jenny – you’re not the only one who liked the first inning better.
Nice pickoff!
Back again — wow, they really do look like powder blue pajamas!
My mom hates it when pick-off plays are successful because she thinks it encourages guys to throw over there even more, slowing down the game and lessening her pleasure. (Mom doesn’t think much of baseball in general, can you tell? Hee.)
