Way of the Samurai
While certain members of the lineup are putting up big ol’ donuts in their batting stats during the ALCS, not naming any names of course (rhymes with “Tacoby Bellsbury” and “Kason Faritek” and “Mavid Lortiz”, who have combined to go O FOR 34, with “Tacoby” also managing to put up a staggering 0.000 OPS), one mister Kevin Youkilis is trying to help fill the void with his .429 BA and 1.214 OPS.
In addition to his bat-swatting skills, Youk is also highly gifted in the art of bat-waggling. FOB (Friend of Blog) Timothy Souers, resident Cubs blog proprietor and artist extraordinaire, found himself mesmerized by Youk’s samurai sword-like bat swinging.

Just looking at that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Or maybe it’s Youk’s playoff beard.

Thanbks, I needed that.
That may be one for the office wall.

That’s what I’m thinking. It’ll look great next to my Pap SI covers.
UH MR. DUSTIN PEDROIA IS HAVING A GREAT SERIES TOO!
Starting a sentence with “Uh” or “Um” and yelling in all caps are not necessary (and rude).
And I wasn’t aware that by featuring one player that meant I was saying all the rest of them sucked. Pedey gets regular love around this joint, it’s time Youk gets a little spotlight.
Haha now every time Youk is at bat tonight I’m going to think of him as a samurai/mountain man.
Could it be that I’m not the only one who thinks Youk’s playoff beard looks better than his usual facial hair? I think (to quote my mother) that it looks very becoming.
You are most definitely not the only one. He looks way less warthog-y with the full beard.
I like the full beard a lot better, too. I may be starting to find him attractive. O_O That pic is awesome (as is Youk).
I think he looks better with the postseason beard, but I bet he scares the children just a little bit more now. :)
He’s just about a flannel shirt away from looking like Paul Bunyan.
Warthogs the world over are offended by the comments here.
One problem with the artwork— his hands are reversed on the bat. Left hand is the bottom hand for a right-handed hitter.
I think that’s intentional – he’s holding the bat like a sword, and not a bat.
