Sox On The Town
Rookie Jed Lowrie was back in Oregon late last month to attend an assembly in his honor at his former middle school:
One student asked Lowrie how long he has played baseball.“Ever since 4 when I played catch with my dad (Dan),” he said. “I remember hitting the whiffle ball in the yard.”
Another asked how it feels playing in front of 10,000 people.
“It would be easier if it was 10,000,” he said. “But our home games are sold out (38,000). It’s exciting with all the people there. If you do well, they cheer; if you mess up, sometimes they boo.”
Hideki Okajima is set to run in the Honolulu Marathon this Sunday in Hawaii. Per the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, he “is believed to be the first current top-level pro team-sport athlete to enter the event in its 36 years.” Oki’s birthday is also right around the corner – he turns 33 on Christmas Day.
Clay Buchholz and his Penthouse Pet girlfriend Erica Ellyson are splitsville. Apparently, Clay is now an item with model-slash-actress (aren’t they always?) Lindsay Clubine. Her current job is a suitcase opener on Deal or No Deal – look for her as #26. Judging on this Globe picture of Clay with Lindsay (down in the Dominican Republic for Papi’s charity golf tournament), she’s a cutie. Of course Curt Schilling continues on in his myriad fundraising and community efforts – he just got back from a tour of Iraq, and last night hosted the ‘Bubbles and Bites’ event with Shonda for the SHADE Foundation at the Boston Omni Parker House Hotel.

I hope there will be pics of marathon!Oki. I really can’t picture him as a marathon runner, but that is so awesome.
To be fair, Ms. Clubine hosts her own adventure travel show on HDTV. I see this as a MAJOR upgrade.

Jed does look like an elf, never noticed that before. What is it with the models with Clay? Maybe this explains his pitching, too much extracurricular activity.
