Sox On The Town

It’s the Christmas(ish) edition of Sox On The Town – now with 4 times the eggnog and 10 times the mistletoe! Most of the team is all snuggled up with their family and friends, in various places ’round the globe. But a few guys are still busy going out and about.

Tim Wakefield visited the Franciscan Hospital for Children in Boston to meet some kiddos and give away those patented Wakefield hugs. The hospital honored Tim by renaming their baseball field the “Tim Wake-Field”.

Jon Lester will join forces with Clay Buchholz’s buddy Joba Chamberlain to give a lecture on offseason hot stove baseball at Sacred Heart University in January. If you’re in the area, tickets go for $20 – seems like a good deal to me, even if you do have to sit through Joba talking.

The front office is keeping busy as well – possibly to take their minds off negotiations for a certain first baseman. Theo Epstein and Terry Francona (and the World Series trophies) were on hand Friday to announce a partnership with JetBlue airlines. Theo and Tito got model planes, JetBlue got a visit from Wally and the designation “The Official Airline of the Boston Red Sox”.

And last, but most certainly not least, Gorden Edes may have moved on to greener pastures – but Santa Edes is still around and stopped by NESN studios on Monday to give out his Christmas gifts.

Fuckity fuckity fuckity fuck. I was totally ok (alright, marginally ok) with the Sox not signing Teixiera, as long as the Yankees didn’t scoop him up. I am reading on SOSH that this “may” be a package deal involving Tek?

mermaidmarian, exactly. I was torn because a strong bat would be nice, but at what cost? I was hoping he’d go to DC or Baltimore, but didn’t think *that* would happen. BUT, to go to the MFYs. ugh.

Look at it this way, it’ll make beating the Yanks all that more enjoyable.

Am I the only one who’s dying to go to the Lester and Joba lecture? I don’t like Joba any more than the next guy, but I want to go nonetheless.

Also, Santa Edes = hilarious. But did I miss something about Jacoby and shoes? Is it so he doesn’t wear them out or something?

Re: Yanks and Tex, ugh. Just ugh.

Santa Edes = highlight of the offseason. Although I was creeped out when he said he loves little boys.
