What To Do While You’re Waiting

by Texy
2008 December 13 at 9:27 am

Gather round, folks- and settle in for a long day of waiting around, with nothing to look at but the ever-refreshing Virtual Waiting Room screen. As long as we’re all in the same boat, we might as well share the boredom together.

So feel free to use the comments on this post to talk about whatever you’d like – share your success stories getting tickets, or your frustrations. Talk about the Sox or baseball in general. Anything’s fair game to keep our minds off of the horror of waiting in futility.

Maybe I’m the only one waiting this year – er, wasting time at work. I’ve got 17 windows open… my lucky number.

I’ve never done this before. Ever. So this is pretty scary. And also, i”m new to my Mac. So I don’t exactly know how to open multiple waiting room windows without ruining my chances in the one I already have open.

I am taking this seriously. Wow.

I’m in three. Here we go again!
Last year didn’t make it in until hour 11.
    Bring it on!

    I’m in, too.

Anyone trying to call as well? I’ve had luck with that in years past, but this year they seem to imply you should only call for the handicapped-accessible seating.

Good luck, kids! I have one window open … each…on a couple different devices.

So…the Yanks now have CC and AJ. The bastards. Little help will it give them!! (I hope)

And the Angels just made an 8-year offer to Texeira. Reportedly for more than $160 million.

Personally, I don’t think anyone is worth that. I just don’t.

  7. 2008 December 13 at 10:09 am

It was the same way with spring training tickets this year, Rachel – you could only call if you needed handicapped accessible seats. Otherwise, you had to use the VWR.

I have three Macs open. We’re a Mac family; but a new one, so slow on the uptake. So my sister and my mom are helping me in this endeavor. It’s rather sad.

But my Dad and I are appreciative. I think he’s got his Blackberry in on the action too.

The Yankees have once again adopted the “buy every guy on the market” approach to management.

Yep, the Yanks are staying true to form. I just want us to stay true to form, too and not offer a guy a 10-year deal…that is just insane.

  13. 2008 December 13 at 10:15 am

The Sox will go 7-8, but not 10.

Last year, I waited all day… in futility. I fully expect my shitty luck to continue today.

I hate it when it takes longer than normal for it to ‘refresh’ making my heart all fluttery…then…it starts counting down again.

Screw the Yanks. We’ll beat them anyway.

    Still twiddling my thumbs, too.

On the regular, what are we looking at price-wise for these Sox Packs? Are they obnoxiously expensive? Like, “Sorry, Student Loans. I’ve got better things to spend my money on” expensive? Or are they reasonable for a four game set?

That’s what I figured. But I wasn’t sure if there was some break for buying more games at once. I suppose that makes sense.

So… um… no more “B”, huh? Whomp, whomp.

  28. 2008 December 13 at 11:48 am

I’m sort of shocked none of the Sox Pax have sold out yet.

I figured they’d be the first to go too, Texy. That’s why I’ve only got one window dedicated to them.

I really just want one game. One little game. That’s all. One game. For my Dad’s birthday. Hear me, Karma?

There will still be plenty of ‘B’ as the hanging sox logo is only on the alternate uniforms

Sigh. This is my first year trying this, and i thought i could rally some friends to help me storm the site at 10:00. When the waiting room came up, friends started losing interest in the idea of sitting and doing nothing all day. So now im the last one left. trying for a sox pack…. but didnt realize the commitment i was making

You have to be a die hard, really. Which I guess is the point.

That, or you’re in it to make $$$…and there seem to be a lot of those.

wouldn’t it have been nice to click on the link at 10 o’clock and actually be able to get tickets? I miss the days of being able to buy tickets at Fenway when I could actually sit in seats, and then be able to move closer to the field as the game progressed. Of course they used to suck then too.

well…when I got home last night near 1am, I figured I would give it one more shot. I ended up with 4 SROs to the 2nd game of the season, and 2 pairs of bleacher seats to 2 other games…but they are not next to each other, the seats for both games are front-to-back.

Still, I’m going to at least 3 games!! Could be worse.

I hope you all did better.

I got in two days in a row and have 6 games total. All good seats. I am usually in 10 hours. This time it was 2.
