So Long Youk-Fu
The Youk-Fu is no more.
A scant two days after talking about his new facial hair style on NESN, Kevin Youkilis shaved off the patented Youk-Fu yesterday morning in a fit of anger (and superstition)… leaving only a small, sad soul patch behind. Per Joe McDonald:
[Youk] walked at a serious pace into the clubhouse after leaving the batting cage, threw his bat into his locker and yelled a couple of curse words before storming off to the back room.
He emerged a little while later without his signature [facial hair].
Joe McDonald was also in the NESN booth with Don Orsillo during today’s game with the Minnesota Twins, filling in for the still-ailing Jerry Remy, and Joe and Don discussed the new Youk look.
Considering he had a nice day at the plate today, knocking a tater off against the Twins, we’ll not likely see the re-emergence of the Youk-Fu anytime soon.
Farewell, Youk-Fu – we barely knew ye.
Aw man I was just getting used to the Youk-Fu. I wonder if he’ll go back to the large goatee thing he had going on last season. Look how good he played with that facial hair!
OK. This is completely unacceptable. Now he looks like Chris from Family Guy. A paperboy wouldn’t be scared of him.
Youk’s just not Youk without enough facial hair for at least one animal to nest in.

Thank God it’s gone, but he doesn’t look the same with barely any facial hair – we need the good old beard back!
He was in front of me signing autographs before Saturday’s game, and I took a double take, haven’t seen him with that little facial hair in awhile.
LOL! The words look like Fouk-Yo at first glance…and I only had one glass of wine today. I like being able to see Kevin’s chin-chopper. It makes him look even younger than he already is!

I enjoy the superstitious aspect. Particularly as it seems to have paid off!
I will admit it, I miss the Youk Fu. One, it was so classically hilarious. Two, Youk needs facial hair…it’s part of the intimidation factor and charm. And three, now I will just be seen as bizarre if and when I ever come across Youk and yell “Hey YOUK FU” at him.
Did Youk happen to take MannyDel with him when he shaved??? Since I would like nothing more than for THAT facial hair to go away…FAR FAR AWAY!
