FAILHAT Throughout History

What did the disastrous loss to the Angels last week and the disastrous start by Brad Penny this past Friday have in common? You guessed it… FAILHAT.

The revived double-Sox logo on a ballcap in and of itself is not FAIL — It would look smashing with white trim on a ballcap on a fan in the stands, for example. But on an official cap that pro ballplayers wear during a game? No. No, no, a thousand times no. It looks like a spring training cap, or a BP cap – or, worse, like a company softball league cap. And when worn by the Red Sox on FAILHAT Fridays? The results are practically toxic.

After Brad Penny’s ERA ballooned up to Stay Puft Marshmallow Man proportions (although nowhere near as bad as Wang’s ERA, thank goodness), we started taking a closer look back at epic FAIL moments in history… and noticed a pattern emerging. Thanks to the fantastic skills of commenter Mac, I can now exclusively share snapshots in time with you, for example:

    Hahaha!

Oddly, I was just thinking about Justin Guarini the other day…and how much he failed. And needed a failhat.

    Well done Mac!
