Funny thing about me…I have a policy of always supporting and never hating when it comes to the guys on our team, and that goes for Lugo too. I wish him only the best, and I hope he eventually proves the doubters wrong.
Can we get Lugo deported on charges of false advertising (claiming to be a good baseball player when he’s not)?

I wonder how many innings Lugo will play. I can’t imagine he’ll play the whole game, so we’ll see Greenie soon enough.
@ecl1958: I usually have that philosophy as well. It doesn’t work with me and Lugo…and I’ll be honest, it has nothing to do with the sometimes suck he plays on the baseball field. It’s about how he lives his life off the baseball field. It might not be fair, but it is how it is…I can’t stand the guy and look forward to the day he is no longer on our team.
@ecl1958: Normally, ecl, I’m all with you on non-Sox-hating. However, there’s something about Lugo that drives me up a wall.
While I certainly don’t wish him ill, I do wish he would go away.

@Texy: Yep…thanks for being right to the point while I was beating around the bush. That is exactly my issue. He could homer at every at bat and never make an error again…and I am not going to jump up and down and cheer for him. Not in my makeup as a person.

@shelley1005: It’s the same issue I have with Brett Myers when I’m at Phillies games. I want for him to do well when he’s in uniform and on the field – but if he sucks, it’s no skin off my back. Off the field, he can go f himself.
@fc: I called my family in Texas to rub in that our weather was better than theirs. It’s the first time I’ve gotten to do that since, oh, September.
Anyone read the Extra Bases with Pap’s comments about his struggles on the mound. One, he says he is not concerned. But I left the article being kind of pissed. He said when he feels good physically he often is sloppy on locating his pitches because he doesn’t feel he needs to be spot on to get through. It really bugged me….sounded lazy and not how I imagined Pap when it comes to his dedication to pitching. Hmmpf… Anyone else read it and have a different impression of it? I still love Pap and wouldn’t want anyone else as our closer.
Heidi Watney is studiously taking notes. On what, we’ll probably never know.
Does anyone else in the Boston area listen to Loren and Wally on WROR? They played the Julio Lugo song this morning (to the tune of Paul Simon’s “Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard”.

@Texy: I want Myers to suck every time on the mound. And I got even more annoyed with his whining about how the Boston fans treated him. I’ve work in enough DV shelters in my time…that I know I can’t see beyond it. I know it’s more about me than about them…but Myers and Lugo and I am sure countless others will never be cool in my book.

@shelley1005: I think the main thing I’ve taken away from that, and the money comments over the last few years, is that Pap can be pretty darned self-centered at times. However, he has never allowed that tendency to mess up the team, and he always seems to lock it down and get back into a team frame of mind when it matters. Some of that stuff will always rub the wrong way, but I don’t get hung up on it.

@Texy: Yeah. I am still a fan…and in a fantasy world I still want to have his babies. I do think he’ll settle in and become the Pap we know and love. If nothing else…that ego and selfishness will make sure of it. Unlike others, I don’t think he is hurt or on the decline….I am just annoyed at his attitude. Maybe I haven’t been paying attention…I just haven’t heard laziness from him before.

For now, let me just say this: I’m well aware of the charge (and acquittal) waaaay back in 2003. I’m sure that his second wife (Sulky) didn’t go into the relationship blind, and the fact that they waited until their son was well over 2 years old to tie the knot tells me that she had a good 3 years to evaluate his character and how he would treat her. That alone is enough to make me give him the benefit of the doubt. If you know something I don’t, please feel free to tell me otherwise.
