Howdy, all!
Hello!
Hey everyone! Let’s hope our boys inch closer to .500 today.
Is it wrong if I think this Yankees game is hilarious? (SORRY TRISH!)
Hey all…I am looking forward to seeing the Commander on the mound today.
@Mac: If it’s wrong…I don’t wanna be right. I’ve been watching and can’t get this goofy grin off my face.
@Mac: It is hilarious. Too bad for the Yanks that Swish was in right and couldn’t come on to pitch!
Kelly Shoppach is batting right now in the Yanks/Cleveland game….aww…
@Twinkie: Haha! I’d love to see Swish pitching again.
@Mac: With how their starters are doing…they should add him into the rotation. LOL
I’m almost sad to turn the channel. Let’s hope the Sox are that enjoyable.
@shelley1005: LOL. I think I’d rather have Swish in OUR rotation.
Did y’all see the article where Penny said he was really happy with his outing yesterday? Really???
@shelley1005: WHAT.
@shelley1005: WHAT
http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2009/04/lucky_penny.html
Penny’s opening quote: “I felt great. I haven’t had that kind of stuff in a while. The walks killed me tonight.”
Penny’s explanation: “I don’t know. That’s uncharacteristic for me. I don’t usually walk a lot of people. I got that one out of the way, I guess.”
Penny could afford to feel good, and not only because the Red Sox bailed him out with a newly explosive offense and a shutdown bullpen. Penny produced a few pitching lines like the one above last season, but last night felt much, much different.
“Last year was a lot harder to take,” Penny said. “When you pitch and do bad and you’re hurting, it’s a whole different story. Tonight, my velocity was consistent. I felt great. I felt unbelievable tonight.
I think Penny was watching some other game…or maybe he thought he was still out there pitching when the bullpen took over and locked things down.
@Mac: It rather resembles a football score, doesn’t it? I’ve been listening to Cards/Cubs all afternoon rather than watching the NYY game on TV, but once I was made aware of the carnage, I’ve been following the score. Too amazing.
@shelley1005: The walks killed you, Brad? Not the grand slam? Not the overall craptastic pitching? It was the walks?
@Twinkie: Methinks Mr. Penny is delusional.
@Twinkie: I know…he’s insane. Here is what he said about the grand slam homer pitch.
“I watched the video,” Penny said. “I think he was sitting on it. Usually they don’t put their front foot down first. He was waiting back on it. He hit a great pitch.”
@shelley1005: BRB, raging.
On an unrelated note, http://tinyurl.com/cup424 Look at my chins!
I gotta tell ya, I love the twittering of Youk’s beard:
beardoftruth I’ve gotta give props to the Yankees. They’re taking loosing to a whole new level.
LOL
Hey, everybody!
@shelley1005: There’s two different things here. The good news is he’s feeling great. The bad news is he pitched like crap.
@shelley1005: Youk’s beard = most entertaining facial hair EVER.
BECKS!!
BecKett
BecKett!
@shelley1005: Isn’t it great? I giggled for a good 5 minutes over ‘It takes move than a weak fast ball from Baez to faze Youk. I throw 20 heaters at that dome before we have coffee every morning.’.
BecKKett
@Clarity: I know…hilarious. And saying Giambi tripped him because he’s jealous cause his beard looks like a skunk.
BecKKett!
See Brad? This is what you want to do. Not what you were doing last night.
Yeah, BecKKett!
@Mac: Or KicK-ass!
@lone1c: Ok, that just might be brilliant.
22-4 now.
Wow: 22-4 Indians? Really?
Can we have every team do this to the Yankees? Please?
@lone1c: Except the Rays.
Oh Jake…I would like a hit, maybe even a few…but I won’t get greedy.
@Twinkie: I know…and bases are loaded with only 1 out. They are getting pummeled….LOVE IT!
Pedey is going to challenge the Amica pitch thingie to a duel.
@shelley1005: Well, the Indians are only gonna get those 22 unless the bullpen REALLY screws up.
@shelley1005: I would pay money to see that.
@Twinkie: Ok, I’lll make an exception for the Rays. Is 22-22 after 22 innings OK?
@shelley1005: Well, all he has to do is show up and win.
Extra Bases quote on the lineup post:
Beckett’s apparently 4-for-8 lifetime against Eaton. Francona said there was not chance he’d actually wind up hitting.
LOL
Hey, Papi—could you PLEASE stop taking called third strikes?
One of my friends is a huge Yankees fan. He told me a few weeks ago he thinks that Wang would be the Cy Young winner this year. I plan on laughing at him a lot on Monday.
The Indians set a record for most runs ever scored in an inning against the Yankees.
(Hi, by the way.)
Oh and another amusing anecdote about the Indians-Yankees game—the only “Game Note” for the ESPN box score is “CLEVELAND’S MARK DEROSA AND VICTOR MARTINEZ HIT BACK-TO-BACK HOME RUNS IN THE TOP OF THE FIFTH INNING.”
And listening to the top of the ninth was amazing: it’s the first time I’ve ever heard a stadium be that quiet.
And Luke Scott’s hair should meet a weed-whacker.
