Love this tweet from Amalie Benjamin: “The Sox are currently yelling at the spellers on TV at the National Spelling Bee. It has attracted half the clubhouse.”

Mostly because it’s what I’ve been doing for most of the morning, too.

  2. 2009 May 28 at 12:51 pm

@Clarity: I’m sure Jonathan Papelbon is yelling the loudest- he fancies himself quite the speller.

I’m home sick, so I’ve been sleeping all morning. Curiously, my body woke up just in time for baseball.

  3. 2009 May 28 at 12:54 pm

I’m expecting great things from Beckett today… Wake can’t play stopper all season…

  4. 2009 May 28 at 12:56 pm

@Bottom Line Rob: From your mouth to God’s ear. And by “God” of course I mean “Josh Beckett”.

  5. 2009 May 28 at 1:03 pm

@Texy: Pap is of course yelling enphatically. I’m chillin at home too, cause I had personal time to burn before I lose it. Strangely, I chose a day with a day game.

  6. 2009 May 28 at 1:04 pm

    @fc: What a coincidence!

  7. 2009 May 28 at 1:07 pm

And Josh: you need to win this one for your sick homie.

@Texy: Speaking of the Papelbon spelling video, is there anyway we can see it? I did a search for it and found it but you had to be accepted as a friend of Texy in order to view. Pretty please???

Wonder what Dave Roberts did to lose his booth spot to a Twins guy? Maybe he was just too greatgreatgreat?

  21. 2009 May 28 at 1:25 pm

@Kimd: if anyone could do it, it would be Ellsbury!

  22. 2009 May 28 at 1:26 pm

Do you know that it’s incredibly hard to explain check swings to a 5 yr old? he gets the concept but not the fine line…… He’s getting pissed at the ump.

  40. 2009 May 28 at 1:46 pm

Odd-year Beckett is supposed to be lights-out. This looks more like even-year Beckett.

  41. 2009 May 28 at 1:49 pm

    Thanks you Mr. Redmond…

  42. 2009 May 28 at 2:10 pm

@Texy: Get well, Texy. I had the cold from hell last week and my husband has it now.

I’m home today (day off!) because it’s my daughter’s 8th grade graduation. I’m going to have a busy day, but have the game on now.
