Wedding Bells for Smoltz

Congratulations go out to John Smoltz, who got married this past weekend to Kathryn Darden. Per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the wedding took place at Smoltz’s house in Alpharetta, GA (outside Atlanta) in front of about 70 friends and family. This is the second marriage for both John and Kathryn, each of whom have children (four for John, two for Kathryn).

Since all of John’s current and former teammates were otherwise engaged with baseball games over the weekend, Smoltz is going to host another party to celebrate the nuptials after the season is over– so that the guys can all attend. If Jeff Francoeur is going to be there, I’d be glad to go.

Per the Globe, Smoltz will continue his rehab tomorrow with A-Greenville and will plan to throw about 50 pitches. Sox brass still plan to have Smoltz join the big boy club in about a month.

Shallowly, I think she’s cute as a button. Good on ya, Smoltz.

@jules: Yep, though I usually just go by Kate. I went about 15 years of my life before I met someone who spells it the same, and now at my work there are three of us, which is kinda weird and confusing. And, yes, we’re all awesome. ;)

Congrats to John and Kathryn! She’s officially part of the Red Sox family.

Ah, a month can’t come soon enough…can’t wait to see him on the mound wearing RED SOX on his jersey.
