Bay AND Green getting the day off—does Tito actually want to win this game or not?

Bay and Greenie at the same time? Interesting.

I won’t be able to watch Wake go for 10(!) because of Fox Sports.

:: insert my usual rant against Fox Sports exclusive Saturday day game rights ::

I *am* baking a cherry pie today, tho. Hubby is very happy ;-)

  3. 2009 June 27 at 4:04 pm

    Hi all!

This lineup just shows that for some reason…Tito hates Wake. Let’s just hope that crazy knuckleball is ON today….and the bizarre lineup is not even a factor.

    Let’s GO RED SOX!!!

    @jules: Yep—same deal.

I’m getting Cubs vs. White Sox, dangit.

  5. 2009 June 27 at 4:07 pm

@lone1c: Look at it this way: you don’t have to watch Lugo.

  6. 2009 June 27 at 4:08 pm

Not that Cubs-Sox is a bad game, but yeah – I’d not be happy if that was on my TV.

Tito apparently has no regard for Tim Wakefield’s sanity. Then again, if he tried to field that team behind Beckett or Penny, there would be a rampage.

  7. 2009 June 27 at 4:10 pm

I do like the sound of “For Nick Green, a rare day off.”

  8. 2009 June 27 at 4:10 pm

    Kot-TAR-as, Fox. Not Kot-TEAR-as.

@Texy: Tito knows Wakefield won’t complain. It’s not in his nature. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t like it.

Bay has the day off because he’d melt.

It is HOT there. 95? OUCH. Poor Bethie and Faith.

  13. 2009 June 27 at 4:13 pm

Tim Wakefield and 100 degree weather. I don’t like the grandpa out there in the crazy heat.

Yeah…Penny and Becks probably brought their guns to the meeting with Tito and gosh darn, Wake forgot his….so he got stuck with the Lugo start.

  14. 2009 June 27 at 4:13 pm

Work over that pitcher in the heat, boys.

  16. 2009 June 27 at 4:13 pm

Pedey….that is how we start the game. Whoo hoo!!!

  17. 2009 June 27 at 4:15 pm

How in the hell Vazquez can wear 3/4 sleeves under his polyester uni in that heat, I do not know.

@shelley1005: Wakefield’s from Florida. He’s used to the heat.

And Wakefield doesn’t have a gun, he has a bow. Tito must have thought he could outrun the bow easier than a gun.

  19. 2009 June 27 at 4:16 pm

    Pedey you IDIOT.

    Stupid Pedey.

  21. 2009 June 27 at 4:16 pm

Pedey – you are not Ellsbury.

  22. 2009 June 27 at 4:16 pm

Fox….yeah….cause Tito brought nothing to the team…he is just successful because he went to Boston with good player. Before him…when was the last time to Sox won the WS? Yeah…thought to. STFU.

    Pedie not being Ellsbury.

Oh and have you guys heard that Jason Bay is planning to be an American Citizen ?

  26. 2009 June 27 at 4:18 pm

@Liza: That guy has a cannon. With Mauer, he’s among the best in the game (IMO).

  27. 2009 June 27 at 4:18 pm

@Sam says : Tazawa !!: He already took the test and passed – he just has to get sworn in this week.

@Texy: I’m amazed at the test—just 10 questions, with only 6 needing to be correct. (And they give you the full list of questions to be asked.)

  32. 2009 June 27 at 4:21 pm

@lone1c: Turns out we’re not that exclusive.

@Texy: Definitely agreed. And, of course, there’s also MATT WIETERS (who, of course, once bunted a 400-foot HR).

@Texy: and yet McCann is trailing Yadier Molina in all-star baloting. (if i’m right, it was days ago last time i checked)

Now I understand why Tito figured he could start Lugo: the 1 and 7-9 batters have averages of .105, .249, .125, and .074.

  36. 2009 June 27 at 4:26 pm

@Liza: I used to put Martin on that list, but he’s cooled off. I bet he’ll be back, though. Victor is pretty awesome as well. Fievel Posada was also admittedly good- not so fantastic anymore.

  40. 2009 June 27 at 4:28 pm

@Sam says : Tazawa !!: God would rain out that game because he would not allow either to lose. Not possible. Heavens must intervene.

Nice 1-2-3 from Wake. Keep it up!!!

  41. 2009 June 27 at 4:29 pm

    Howdy, all!

  42. 2009 June 27 at 4:30 pm

So….what do people think about Becks shutting down Heidi yesterday? Do they think he was being rude and an ass….or that it was hilarious…or both??? There seems to be a little debate about it.

I’m going with both. It was a dickish move, but I sure love Becks for doing it.

  43. 2009 June 27 at 4:30 pm

Nobody was a better catcher than Craig Biggio, though. /biased

  44. 2009 June 27 at 4:31 pm

@shelley1005: I (sadly) don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve been working non-stop all day yesterday and today, so I didn’t get to see any postgame.

  45. 2009 June 27 at 4:31 pm

@shelley1005: It was wrong and I loved it.
