Lugo in lead off? Aren’t we being punished enough??
Lugo? Leadoff base hit? What’s going on?
My head hurts.
Lugo hits. Lugo steals. Wha? I’ll take it.
YOOOOOOOOUUK…wha?
@shelley1005: I guess the fear of unemployment can motivate anybody.
YOUK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad Jones is ok.
And…
YOUK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lugo in leadoff, hits, and steals ? whaaaaaa. and YOUUUUUUUUUUUUK.
Yay for Youk—but I hope Jones is OK!
Big Papi !
It was in Jones glove. If he’d kept that glove on it’d be a catch again; like the one he robbed last night.
Hey y’all…epic sucktastic day. Have you ever been in a meeting and you wanted to ask someone if they were out of their freakin’ mind? I was *this* close this afternoon. :: screams ::
So, I come in and the Sox are up 2-0? Lugo lead off? I’ll take it.
Jones seems okay….and maybe he has learned to stop trying to deny Youk his homers. He will make you pay. If he hadn’t lost his glove over the wall…he would have gotten it done…the ball was in there.
So glad to hear Mikey Lowell and his hip are feeling better. Sighs of relief.
PAPI! Love that double. Too bad they couldn’t get you home.
@jules: Yeah, I have been in meetings like that. And I have to work REALLY hard to not have that written all over my face. I have been told I have really expressive eyes when I am pissed or frustrated. Sorry work was all kinds of suck. Let’s hope the Sox continue their roll…and make at least this part better.
And now we are on to Smoltz Day. Last Thursday…didn’t count. Happy Smoltz Day all!
@shelley1005: Didnt Mikey go to the DL ?
Hey folks — just passing through for the most part this evening. Got stuff to do before I go back to work tomorrow.
Had an awesome time in Atlanta other than the extreme heat (actually had to miss the Saturday game because of it — fortunately, we were able to watch it on FOX at the hotel).
@shelley1005: Luckily for the Sox dugout, the rules require that the fielder has to keep the glove. Otherwise, Youk would have gone ballistic.
@Sam says : Tazawa !!: Yes he did. But this gives him time to recuperate, and the Sox can bring up a player to fill-in while he recovers.
@shelley1005: I’m the same way–I have NO poker face at all. My coworker couldn’t look at me because she knew I was ticked and ready to say a whole lot more–you want me to finish that by *when*???. Damn idiots.
But enough of that! The Sox are on, Smoltz is pitching, and it’s not over 100! Life is good.
Smoltzie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SMOLTZIE SEZ SIDDOWN
That’s the Smoltz I wanted to see…..hell to the yeahs!
Nice Smoltz.
Smoltz can has 1-2-3?
@jules: In those meetings, I try to find a sly way to make the idiocy apparent. Theirs, not mine.
@Sam says : Tazawa !!: Yeah, Mikey did go to the DL…but all reports are that he feels good. He said he could play in a couple of days, but the powers that be decided to rest the hip until after the All Star Break….to hopefully get him the rest he needs to get through the 2nd half. He gets 19 days off on a 15 day DL. Trainers said he showed up in Boston today saying he felt really good….such good news.
Eck, “He knows he has to shove it”?
Hi Bails!!
@fc: No doubt, I do the same thing. One on hand it’s so easy with this particular project manager, but on the other, she just doesn’t see it. I have a real problem when their incompetence impacts my schedule and they give me three weeks instead of eight to finish.
Come on, Lugo!
LUGO !
Lugo with another hit. Wow.
Eck. Ugh. Lugo is hitting the ball WELL…not good.
(Yes, I am ok with being the grammar police. I think if your job is to talk on tv…you should actually know the language).
Lugo can has two hits? WTF?
Julio is making me smile tonight. Couldn’t resist saying it.
@shelley1005: Baseball players (and former players) get a pass on adverbs.
@shelley1005: But can he spell it???
I almost feel sorry for the pitcher. Almost.
PEDEY !
DOUBLE-HITTING ELF!
@ecl1958: Hi ecl! I’m glad you had fun in Atlanta.
Umm, I like this game. I like when we have a AAA-esque lineup and just beat down Orioles pitching.
Pedie thinks he’s Jacoby.
C’mon, Eck – what did Youk say? You can read lips – go for it.
@fc: Eck wants to keep his job.
Matt Wieters is 2-18 on throwing out base runners.
@jules: Hey there — it was huge fun! I really felt sorry for our guys out in that heat — I had my binoculars and could see how miserable they all looked.
@lone1c: I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard as when Eck read Ells lips at one point (nothing bad)…and there was silence for a second and DO says like the classic straight man:
DO: Umm, I thought we decided not to read lips anymore.
Eck: Yes, you’re right, you’re right. I’m sorry.
@Sam says : Tazawa !!: I think that was before the Elf’s latest steal, which makes him 2 for 19.
For what it’s worth, Kottaras is 3 for 21.
@lone1c: Kott’s stats aren’t really fair…since he is catching Wake and it is ALWAYS going to be easier to steal off of Wake.
@shelley1005: That’s my point. Kottaras’s numbers are skewed, and he’s still doing better than Wieters!
Smoltz is having the time of his life out there. He’s BAAAAAAAACK.
@fc: That trickle you hear in the background is the rest of the AL East peeing on themselves.
@fc: Yeah….it is…Smoltztastic!
I am really excited that the Fenway game I am going to…should be Smoltzie on the mound. Me likey.
