So funny thing about that Masterson story....I was at Applebees. My boyfriend bought me tickets to go see the Sox play the Twins on memorial day and we went to Applebees that night. I'm sitting there and who walks out of the bathroom and right by my table? But Justin MAsterson himself, of course. My boyfriends said I got a look of sheer reverence. I went over to his table (he was all alone and had no food, so I decided it was okay to interrupt) and as I walked up and asked him to sign my ticket, the waiter brought over the water for him and told him that the girls recognized him and invited him over . He laughed and was like "oh, tell them thanks, but i'm good over here" He was really nice about signing my ticket and proceeded to eat at' applebees all alone. I felt bad for him, I was like "where's the rest of his bullpen buddies?! why's he eating alone?!"

But yeah, I was there for that story. I might frame his blog post with my signed ticket. lol

@ecl1958: I could never confirm. There was also a great story I found about a different great-grandmother of his, from back during the World Series -- but none of the Royals' info indicated which great-grandma it was.

I wonder if that's the great-grandmother who got the ball rolling on Coco's nickname by calling him "Co?" Many condolences to him. He'll always be a favorite of mine.

Oh Masty...don't ever change. Really. And we'd better not let JayBay get away from us. Heads will roll if he doesn't get signed, like, yesterday.

Japanese baseball animes are the best.
Awww coco.
but I read something about the Yankees, not completely looking at Bay, because they need money for Jeter's free agency at 2010 .

@Texy: LOL, yeah. If it wasn't for the mahjong anime airing in Japan right now (that I'm watching despite not knowing anything about mahjong) I would have had no clue myself. But it's definitely an automatic mahjong table. And an amazing picture.

@Twinkie: Is that what that is? I couldn't even tell. Other than Papelbon, that picture had me completely lost. And yet I love it.

-If Theo values his man-parts he should sign Jay Bay THIS INSTANT.

-I swear, every time Masterson says or writes something I just want to hug him even more (in an "aww he's so adorable" kinda way, not the same way as everyone else wanted to that night).

-Poor Coco! *hugs*

-Oh, Japan... You and your baseball and your mahjong... And just so everyone knows: baseball anime is much more interesting than mahjong anime. Trust me.

You guys seriously crack me up. I offish love Justin he is like the perfect little brother, who happens to be 2 feet taller and like 10 years older than me. He is so awesome and funny. Oh and if Theo doesn't sign Jason Bay soon I'm going to punch him in the face, seriously, what the hell? sign him already!

@lone1c: I thought it was because Tito was afraid Kotsay was going to murder him in his sleep with a spork. He has that look about him.

The reason why Tito doesn't want to talk about Kotsay's return to the team is that he, along with Lowrie, are the first dominos in a process that could lead to the departure of a beloved but now rapidly declining icon.

As for Justin Masterson, I thought it was already well established that it is impossible not to love Masterson (well, okay, unless you're the guy who he just got to ground into an inning-ending double play). Some of us love him like a (not-so-)little brother; others amongst us apparently want to love him a little bit more than that. It's nice to see, though, that he takes it all in with his trademark good humor.

That's troubling news if the Yankees are looking at Jason Bay. Can you blame them? We don't care for a cliffhanger on this one, Theo. And excuse-moi to poster Jennifer. Is she referring to Fenway when using the term "that park"??
