Quotable Ozzie Guillen

The best part about playing the White Sox, other than the wins on the scoreboard and the rear view of Scott Podsednik, is that we’re treated almost daily to gems from Palehose manager Ozzie Guillen.

ozzieguillen2

On Dustin Pedroia:

That kid should be in the circus and I have to walk him to face someone else. He should be riding some horses and I have to walk that kid. It’s very weird when you walk a guy who is 4-foot-11.

On the White Sox bullpen against the Red Sox:

I just told [Ramon] Castro, ‘When I call someone from the bullpen, make sure you leave the pitcher there and you come out — our backup catcher.’ I called [Octavio] Dotel [on Monday], and he got his ass kicked. I called Linebrink, he got his ass kicked. No matter what I do, I call the wrong guy. I guess it’s my fault for calling the wrong guy.

On Daniel Bard:

Who’s that guy? He pitched pretty good. I’d rather face [Jonathan] Papelbon than that guy.

On his managing philosophy in the wake of losses to the Red Sox:

Right now, it’s a little too late to get the tight ass. You get the tight ass right now, pack it in. Right now, this is a man’s game. I know what I’ve got. I’m still waiting for it to show up.

Ozzie’s a complete tool…but you’re right. Sometimes those quotes make him worth it.

I would hate to play for Ozzie. It seems like all he does is compliment the other teams.

There was another good quote about the White Sox and their lack of ability to score with 2 outs.

Yeah, you definitely don’t want the tight ass when you’re playing the man’s game, wink wink nudge nudge say no more.

I can’t stand Ozzie (or the White Sox in general), but yeah, I get a kick out of his postgamers. Go figure.

If Francona ever retires, bring that man in. I’m not sure why so many people hate him, he is the funniest man in baseball.

don’t forget his awesome comment about wake last night… something to the effect of “he was pitching when i was NINETEEN and he’s STILL pitching…”

The comment about Dustin was funning but the picture of him is AMAZING. That guy does speak his mind and I love it.

I’m one of the few people outside of White Sox fans who likes Ozzie Guillen. He has a passion for the game and is not afraid to say what’s on his mind. Granted he can be a little toolish but he’s too funny for me to hate.

@adam: Francona will never retire. He will simply die and they will have Cora wear a tito costume.

Oh, I love me some Ozzie. He’s nuttier than a room full of squirrels, and I like him that way.

@Hurricane: How do you know this hasn’t happened already?

Here’s a thought: Ozzie managing Ichiro.

Most telling quote of the bunch: “I’d rather face Papelbon” than Bard.

When he gets a better grip on his trade, he could be much like the Papelbon of ‘06 and ‘07—if not better. (He’ll also be far blander, but I’m willing to make that trade-off, if need be.)
