So we got Paul Byrd…he can be our hero like Dice-K was last night…right???
Since our lineup is what you would call LIGHT…I am hoping that Byrd BRINGS IT!
Go Red Sox!
Hey everyone!
I haven’t been around much–it’s been a heck of a week-and-a-half.
It started last Sunday night with the dreaded middle-of-the-night phone call: Mom had a heart attack. Oh my God. Thankfully, she’ll be fine and went to the hospital right away.
I’ve had Texy-like hours at work, but am home now to watch the game.
I did the absolutely most STUPID thing. EVER. today: sent a snarky, smart ass email to the WRONG person! BIG screw up. I had to apologize. What a day.
Dice was *amazing* last night! No hits until the 5th! I loved seeing the ovation he got–that must have meant a lot to him.
Let’s hope Byrd kicks ass tonight.
@jules: Hey Jules….wow…them are some tough breaks. I am glad your mom is ok. I hope she continues to recover. Hugs.
I didn’t get to see Dice-K pitch…by the time I got home he was out of the game, but I rewatched it this morning…and couldn’t be prouder of the guy. That is just what we needed and I hope it continues well into October and November.
@shelley1005: Thanks. She knew the symptoms and didn’t waste a moment going to the ER. The hospital is one of the top cardiological hospitals in the country, so she was in good hands.
Dice was great! I couldn’t sit and watch much of the game (cooking dinner for my folks, and just busy), but I was very impressed.
The Giants clobbered the Rockies. beautiful.
Go Jays ;-)
Good morning! Or evening!
buenos noches amigos.
STILL not used to seeing Bobby Abreu in an Angels uni.
Happy Now-Passed FJM Day!
@jules: Oh, lord – that sucks. I’m working me-like hours again today, so I feel ya.
the wind, Paul Byrds best friend.
whew! Nice catches, Jacoby and J-Bay!
Jules: good thoughts for Mom.
@jules: Here’s hoping the Jays drill Derek Jeter in the junk!
@jules:
if they don’t resign Bay, Abreu would be a nice fit for the Sox in left. Beautiful swing for Fenway.
@jules: Well we know that I’ve recently become a fan of the Giants….so whoo hoo!
And a nice inning from Byrd…who was giving a huge helping hand by the wind, but well…I’ll take it.
@Texy: The hours are one thing, but the politics and bullshit are driving me crazy.
@Texy: I’ll be checking in on the Yanks/Jays game tonight from time to time…to see if any of the shenanigans carry over. I’d prefer they just continue to beat them down on the scoreboard and no where else.
I used to work like you guys. Then I stopped.
@fc: Thanks! It was minor (as heart attacks go) and most likely caused by work-related stress. She’ll be fine.
@Texy: Oh my God, yes! That would be great. What a fight last night. Posada was just looking for trouble.
@shelley1005: Did you see Lincecum pitch Monday night? awesome.
@jules: NO, I read about it…but didn’t watch. I’ll admit it, I only tend to watch SF games when Penny is on the mound.
@fc:
now you just live at Fenway?
@Adam: Now? I think she has lived there all season long. *stomps off in jealousy*
@shelley1005: I missed Penny’s start against the Dodgers (would have LOVED to see that).
Speaking of the Giants, the Sox will be in San Francisco for three games next June!!!!!! I will be camping out in front of my laptop the *second* tickets are available.
Speaking of the Sox, I’ll be there in a couple weeks! wooooohoooooo! (last game of the season)
@shelley1005:
hey, at least she took you to a game haha!
@jules: I’m going to the last game of the season as well. I’d LOVE it if Masty was pitching for the Indians, but who knows….
I missed Penny pitching against the Dodgers too…since I was at Fenway while that game was going on, but I heard he did real well.
I am also going to the Sox game at Yank Stadium next Saturday….whoo hoo!
@jules: I’m glad your mom is okay. I don’t know what I would do if that happened to me.
I was super busy last night so I didn’t get to watch the game, although I’m very happy that Dice pitched so well. That’s always good to hear that the Sox are winning… especially when the Cardinals keep losing. :[
@Adam: She did…which was awesome…and I will love her long time for that.
@jules: If they were a month later I may hve gone to those ones in SF… damn
My priorities were readjusted by a reorg->jackass boss->job change. And now I live at Fenway.
@shelley1005:
I think we’re all going to the last game of the season. Probably meaningless with a bunch of scrubs playing. Exciting standing room! Hopefully I’ll win a lottery for postseason tickets. I wont hold my breath though.
@Dragon_Sniper: The symptoms for women are different from men. She and my Dad were camping for the weekend, but came home early because she wasn’t feeling well–particularly in her back. That night, her back cramped up and she had a hard time breathing. That’s all she felt–no chest pain at all.
@shelley1005: I was thinking the same thing! I’d LOOOOVE to see Masterson pitch. My husband and I are flying back to visit his parents. They live outside of Boston in a retirement community. We’re taking them to the game and have the Right Field Roof Deck seats in the first row (where they have the tables and chairs).
JEALOUS of you going to the toilet bowl to cheer on the Sox. Heckle A-Rod for me ;-)
@bally: Are you going to San Francisco in July? Have you been there before?
Good Evening Guys
@jules: I am, but I haven’t been there. The only place I’ve been in the States is LA (well.. and Hawaii…). Going to SF, Portland & Seattle first… and will be in Seattle when the Sox are there… definitely considering seeing them there. But then another part of my wants my first MLB game to be at Fenway.
I’m going to postseason games if I have to sell my mom and sleep with Beer Dude.
@bally: That’s great! You’ll have a wonderful time. They are all beautiful cities (I was born in San Francisco and spent my early childhood in the Bay Area). If you have time, catch a Giants game because the park is fantastic! (bonus for seeing Lincecum pitch ;-). I’ll have to check when the Sox will be in Seattle–that would be a fun trip.
@fc:
I am so with you on that one. I am not holding my breath for the drawing but I will sell everything I own to go.
@bally:
Go when you are in seattle. It won’t be at all as good as Fenway but once you go to 1 MLB game to see the sox you will be addicted. Go as many times as you can.
@fc:
I hear the beer man doesn’t have the greatest connections. Now the peanut guy, a little birdie told me he knows a thing or two about a thing or two.
@bally: Ooooh, I’d like to go to Seattle. Have fun with that. :)
I really wish I could go to Fenway. One of these days, one of these days…
@fc: THAT would be fun (going to a playoff game in Fenway, not the Beer Dude ;-).
My very first Sox game was in Oakland, 2003, when they eliminated the A’s in the ALDS. Taking BART (commuter train) back was quite an adventure for us in our Sox gear.
@fc: I could try to fake some disability and call and try to get those seats. Bonus…if I got the seats behind the bullpen, then I wouldn’t get kicked out when the mean seat Nazis come by.
@Adam:
I would go for the popcorn man. How can they not have an in with the organization the way they throw those bags around.
@luvmysoxboys: @luvmysoxboys: ‘xactly.
There’s not much better than going to an evening baseball game and that wonderful twilight time when the sun is setting and the lights come in. Pure magic.
@jules:
the DLowe game? Nice job outta you!
@luvmysoxboys: Ha I’m already addicted and I haven’t been to a game yet… the only thing about Seattle is that my buddy who was going to come over and go up the West coast with me before Boston probably won’t be coming anymore, which means traveling by myself, I don’t know how keen I am on going to a game alone… at least in Boston I have a few friends who I can drag along.
Exactly Jules
Seeing there was a million of us at Sundays game did anyone else notice the sunset over fenway that night? It was amazing. My friend said “my God I think this is heaven.” I had to agree (yea we had a few beers in us).
@Adam: That would be the one.

@jules:
the Dlowe crotch chop after the called 3rd strike is one of my alltime favorite moments.
