The Red Sox are headed back to the playoffs in 2009, thanks to a little help from the Halos.

09PLAY002

Knowing how much their fans hate the Red Sox, I have to admit it makes it a tad sweeter that the Angels had a hand in helping the Sox clinch their playoff spot tonight.

See you in the postseason, Anaheim Los Angeles!

    I love Soxtober!!!!!!!

    I will tell you I am not looking forward to the commentators we are blessed with in soxtober. A whole month (hopefully) of guys making shit up and talking about useless facts.

    Hopefully my little pony and the rest of the boys bring their A games into October.

    YAY! It’s been a heck of a week for the Sox, but keep the faith! Bring on the Halos.

    I’m sure this will mean that I’ll see the 3rd stringers when I’m at the game Sunday. So what–I’ll be at Fenway!

    Speaking of questionably appropriate celebrations, how about the Sox soaking each other with champagne after a loss, making it the seventh loss in ten games? I’m starting to think the author of that Yankees celebration article was right*: save the celebrations for the World Series. It just felt awkward and unseemly to me.

    *okay, he wasn’t really right, since his real point was that the Yankees winning the division should be a no-brainer, so fuck him.

    I said last night that the Hunt for Red October is over (as in we made it to the playoffs) but that is not true – it’s only just begun! COWBOY UP.

    Wow. It’s Soxtober already. It felt like last season went by fast. The 2009 season was faster. Lets hope our stay isn’t at as short this year!

    I wonder how many people will actually buy that wild card t shirt?

    Am I the only one who isn’t thrilled to be facing the Angels?

    @Adam

    I am not looking forward to facing them at all especially with 3 games out of the 5 in Los Angeles. The Angels don’t have 1 major stand out #1 starter but they do have a collection of good pitching and they are a good hitting team. Let’s just hope our starters who have been choking lately find their groove and let’s hope Fuentes chokes a few times throughout the series.

    I wasn’t excited about them playing the Angels last year either and they did fine so I am trying to stay positive.

    @Texy: ha! true.

    My biggest concern about facing the Angels is their ability to run at will against our catchers.

    @jules
    that will be a concern for any team they play the rest of the way.
