about center field

Red Sox blog written from the female perspective. Not just news, or just multimedia, or just analysis, or just humor — it’s my own crazy mix of all that. My philosophy has always been that you can enjoy the nuts and bolts of the game of baseball- learn the strategy, study the numbers, follow the stats- and still be interested in the crazy antics of the players as well. I think it’s just as fun to learn about the mechanics of Beckett’s curveball as it is to watch Pedroia goofing off in the dugout.

Love the team, love the players, love the game.

about texy

Pitched four years for the Philadelphia Athletics, and then played shortstop for seven years for the Montreal Expos. Taught Rickey Henderson to steal a base. Taught Nolan Ryan to throw a punch. Taught Mickey Mantle to drink a beer. Threw one seven-hitter and seven no-hitters. Wonderboy was my creation, and first Jobu shrine was in my locker. Often called “the next Jed Lowrie”. Always wear high socks and eyeblack. Prefer to slide headfirst.

huh?

Yes, I go to a lot of baseball games. A ton, in fact- especially if you count spring training. I also go to college football games, NFL games, golf tournaments, NCAA basketball games, minor league games, NBA games, college baseball games and the horse track. Yes, that’s a lot of sports. If there’s a game being played or a race being run, I’m your girl.

No, I do not go to NASCAR races. That is not a sport.

Obviously, I’m a Red Sox fan, but I also follow the Cubs and Phillies. I’m a Dallas Cowboys fan (no boos, please), live and die with the Texas Longhorns, and am trying desperately to find a hockey team to care about… or, for that matter, trying desperately to care about hockey, period. I don’t have a favorite NBA team– but if pressed, I’d back the Houston Rockets. Brett Favre can do no wrong with me, Nolan Ryan and Vince Young are gods, I credit Craig Biggio with turning me into a die-hard baseball nut, and blame Roger Clemens for making me fall in love with the Red Sox.

guidelines

You don’t have to agree with me to post here – you don’t even have to be a Red Sox fan. But you do need to be coherent and rational. If you’re hateful or make personal attacks, I’ll delete your comments- because no one has time to mess with that nonsense. Good grammar and spelling are welcome, but I recognize no one is perfect. Just try and keep the “OMG he is so HOTTT!” comments to a minimum.

Don’t talk politics, don’t talk religion, and we’ll do just fine.
