Waking From The Nightmare

Since there's no ALCS baseball being played today to soothe us, let's distract ourselves with shiny happy pretty things, shall we? Let's start with this:

Josh Beckett + football = two great tastes that taste great together

Next up: Manny being Manny... back in his days of wearing a uniform that actually fit him. Some cute little video snippets of Manny in his Cleveland days. Manny in an afro wig? Awesome.

And speaking of Manny, how about this cute photo? Isn't he soft and snuggly, giving Cleveland's Jhonny Peralta a hug? What you don't see is that he's totally using the hug as cover to plant a bug in Jhonny's clothes, so that the Sox can spy on the Indians. Or so the guys can listen in and learn the best places to go out and party in Cleveland. Manny: THE HUGGING ASSASSIN.

LOTS more shiny happy pretty things after the jump...

I adore this photo- Manny Delcarmen and Jon Lester horsing around like brothers, and Jon's grin in this photo is nothing short of infectious. I imagine Manny to be all, "So you think you can just join our bullpen and get away with that, you starter? I don't think so!" And bonus Mike Timlin with Little Timlin in the background.

And I'm putting out the call right now: ANYONE WHO KNOWS WHERE I CAN BUY ONE OF THOSE GREY PLAYOFF SWEATSHIRTS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I am coveting that sweatshirt like crazy, but you can only buy it from MLB or Majestic (or every other place I've seen) in red. But I want grey! Because I'm difficult, see?

Speaking of Little Timlin, could he and his pops BE any cuter? He wears high socks! Just like his dad! That is so precious, I can't stop using exclamation points! Seriously, Big Timlin and Little Timlin are adorable.

Boston Globe & MLB photos

Here's a great one-on-one interview with Big Timlin by Harold Reynolds for TBS/MLB.TV, conducted at Fenway before the ALCS began. It's really fascinating stuff- and you also get several peeks at Mike's wry sense of humor.

Another of my favorite photos of the guys this week during workouts is this one- where Tito apparently cannot resist the siren song of Dustin Pedroia's head any longer, and simply must play with his hair. The expression on Dusty's face as he turtles his head forward for Tito is priceless.

Big Papi wants everyone to cheer up. He would like to remind you that no matter how Gagne-tastic last night's game was, he's ready to go for Game Three. I double dog dare you to look at this photo of David Ortiz and not feel at least a teensy bit happier.

If that didn't work, I'm going to have to resort to the big guns: PERRY COMO. No one can resist the potent combination of the musical stylings of Perry Como and the baseball stylings of Big Papi. No one. Because you don't fuck with Perry Como, and you don't fuck with Big Papi.

I'll close this out with one of the great moments from last night's game- no explanation needed.

Aww. That made me feel much better, especially the expression on li'l Dusty P's face as Tito plays with his hair.

sorry.
I feel really stupid now, for only reading the bold words.

Do not feel stupid. I'm being entirely too difficult, because the red is just not enough for me. MUST HAVE THE GREY.

I actually ordered one of the grey sweatshirts from Modell's, and they said it was in stock when I ordered it; then I got an email that it was an "Advanced Sale" item and I'd get another email when it was in stock. In the meantime they've vanished from the websites of MLB, Modell's, Bob's etc. Not sure if that means they won't be available, or if they're just trying to minimize presales until they have them in stock. I seem to remember that Modell's or Bob's newspaper ad said they wouldn't be available until 10/15, but I could be wrong.

This is excellent news. That means there's hope yet for me to snag one of those greys! (it's the little things that make me happy)

MLB.com DID have them but not anymore, and i asked at Fenway yesterday and they were sold out there...so I'm hoping there is a re-issue of them. I didn't buy one at first because the smallest size they had was medium, and I'm definitely regretting it now because those things are bad ass and I must get one, and who gives a shit if a sweatshirt is s bit too big?

And Yahoo Sports has some great pics of Beckett from yesterday, in which he is wearing one of the gray sweatshirts and throwing the football...almost too much awesomeness for one pic:-D

So Mike Timlin has a son who looks kind of like him. Would that make him...Tiny Timlin?

I'll show myself out.

You show yourself right back in here, lady- because that was funny. Maybe only to me.

And Meg, I found that picture of Josh in grey, and added it to the post. I couldn't find it on Yahoo Sports for some reason, but I found it thanks to the lovely piney61.
