Giving Thanks

On this day of Thanksgiving, I would like to thank the following people for making the summer of '07 possibly the best summer of my life: Josh Beckett, Jonathan Papelbon, Manny Ramirez, Jason Varitek, Mike Timlin, Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Mike Lowell, Jon Lester, Kevin Youkilis, Curt Schilling, Jacoby Ellsbury, Tim Wakefield, Doug Mirabelli, Julian Tavarez, Clay Buchholz, Kevin Cash, Brandon Moss, Julio Lugo, Coco Crisp, Javier Lopez, Manny Delcarmen, Bobby Kielty, Royce Clayton, Bryan Corey, Hideki Okajima, Alex Cora, Kyle Snyder, Devern Hansack, Brendan Donnelly, Eric Hinske, Kason Gabbard, Joel Pineiro, J.C. Romero, Wily Mo Pena, Tito Francona, John Farrell, Don Orsillo, Jerry Remy, Tina Cervasio, the bullpen cop, that nice lady at the Bud Light stand in Fenway near Section 10 who would sell me beer even when I forgot my ID, Parlay the parrot, Kevin Millar, the bugs in Cleveland, Melvin Mora, Cinco Ocho, the Angels shitty hitting, Carmona and Sabathia's shitty pitching, Matt Holliday's shitty basestealing, and J.D. Drew. (yes, even J.D.)

I do not, however, thank Eric Gagne. He can go fuck a duck.

Maybe in retrospect, if somehow he nets us a really really good player, we can give thanks to Gagne. Let's see how that goes. Let us also not forget Pedro Martinez(without him going to the Mets, no Clay) and Orlando Cabrera(without him going to the Angels, no Jacoby)...and I guess Jay Payton in a sense.

Oh and kinda funny you mention Melvin Mora, he's on what I call the "Christmas Card List"(it's basically the guys who help the cause along the way by either really sucking vs the Red Sox or doing really well against the Yanks(though this is interchangeable)....feel free to use that idea sometime

But let us all give thanks regardless :)

Did I miss something? Is Gagne even a Type B free Agent (sandwhich pick)? I cant beleive hs snumber support that.

Gagne is a Type B free agent - even though the Rangers swore he'd be a Type A free agent when he was traded.

So Gagne = one sandwich round pick.

Christmas Card List, eh? This sounds like a future post to me... it's on my list now.

I totally think I know who section 10 lady is...I sat on the 1b side all the time and like Bud light far too much during games not too.

And I love your list, but I think "J.D. Drew's Game 6 Grand Slam" deserves billing over J.D. Drew himself. That alone was worth about $10 million of his salary.

I love that Millar is on your list. Because even though he's an Oriole.. he's still kind of a Red Sox. I wish he could just come back to the team as our official cheerleader or something. Until he does color for NESN, of course (she types while wearing her old Millar shirt-turned-pajamas).

Bless you for thanking Beckett first and for telling Gagne where to stick it. And a snarky "Thanks" to Mo Rivera for blowing that Division winning game. Enjoy your $15 mil per year continuing to blow games for the Yankees.

Re: Christmas Card List...

I got the idea actually in 2003 after someone on SOSH(I read it in its old school days but never had the need to join cuz I'd look like a total moron) said something to the idea of "Someone needs to send Hank Blalock a Christmas Card if the Red Sox make it to the WS" and I just thought "Hey that's a pretty cool idea to make a list of that". I'll eventually do up a list of my own, but I'm gonna wait a while.

I had started an "MVP" list for just that sort of thing- but making it into a Christmas Card list is just way better.

MILLAR AS SOX COLOR MAN? This must happen.

They might not get a lot done on the broadcast with Millar as the color man but I'd love for him to help out Papelboner on the Friendly's scoop segments.

that would be classic video
