Mike Lowell In Mickey Ears

That's the only thing that was missing from the festivities in Orlando on Friday: a picture of Mike Lowell donning a pair of Mickey ears.

Mike was the honorary grand marshal in Friday's Disney Dreams Come True parade at the Magic Kingdom- and brought his family along for the fun. In addition to riding down Main Street in a convertible with Mickey (in a baseball uni), Mike and his wife and two kiddos also rode a whole host of rides at the park. (Flying Dumbos! Teacups!)

One thing Mike didn't do was talk a lot about his ongoing contract negotiations. From the Herald:

We'll see what the offseason holds. You know I have a lot of decisions to make, things to talk over with my family, and I'm sure we're going to come to something that everyone is going to be happy with.

And here's some video of Mike from yesterday, including a direct plea from Larry Lucchino to Mike Lowell:
I don't want to comment, except to say: Mike Lowell, if you're out there watching this, please understand- this is a sincere effort on the part of the Red Sox organization and all of Red Sox Nation. We want you back here. We want you getting your ring next April here at Fenway Park, and I hope we're able to accomplish that.

Any thoughts on what Lucchino's comments portend?

Well, I tend to be a defeatist so I think they portend nothing good. Just a 'show' to make the FO look like the good guys.

I pray I'm wrong

yeah i keep hoping i'm going to be wrong and i'm just being cynical...but i keep feeling that this isn't going to happen...i think the sox will regret it.

I refuse to be pessimistic about this one. I think Lucchino sounded sincere, not like he's trying to look good. Although, if they REALLY wanted him back, they'd give him the four stinkin' years.

AH! I'm supposed to go to Disney on Monday! I wish i was there when he was. that would have been really cool.

Lucchino's comments scare me--like he thinks Lowell doesn't understand they're making a sincere effort. Well, at least he said they want him back.. gjskgajdglkwsh;l

I like how they're so worried about re-signing a guy whose only turning 34 for four years, yet they're extending contracts for and re-signing guys who are over seven years older than Mike is. Am I the only who sees that as strange?
