Nooooooooooooooo!

Nooooooooooooooo! Are you telling me the days of Aaron "Bacon Pants" Rowand running around the CBP outfield in blood pinstripes, crashing into walls and making ridiculous diving grabs are over? That he and his "BEER PONG CHAMP" sweatbands are headed to the left coast... to a team that's not even a contender? That one of my top 3 favorite players in all of major league baseball is going to be playing for a team that I could not care less about?

Oh, Bacon Pants. Now who am I supposed to have as my favorite Phillie? I have to go back to having Pat Burrell as my #1 Philly guy. That's just wrong.

Yeah, there's just one word to describe how I feel about Bacon Pants going to the Giants...DEVASTATED!! I think there are better favorite Philly backups than Pat Burrell though. I am actually really disappointed that he's going to a team that will always finish in the basement of the NL West. I understand this is Bacon Pant's only chance for a big pay day, but couldn't he at least have signed with a contender for a year or two less like the Phillies? They were ready to overpay him, just not for 5 years!

My husband set up a little Aaron Rowand shrine complete with my Rowand bobblehead and some candles. I laughed hysterically when I saw it:

Your husband? Is one really cool dude. That is HILARIOUS.

If I set up one of those Bacon Pants shrines, too, is there any chance that the whole Giants thing will turn out to be a bad dream?

I'd love to see another Bacon Pants shrine or maybe a Phillies farewell of some sort. I wish that would make the Giants deal just a bad dream too!!

Pretty sure everyone should get off of the Bat's back.... He is great Philly and an even better man!... He bleeds Phillie..um...pinstripe...blood? Does that make sense?

Yah, I thought so...

Burrell is a free agent after the 2008 season. Let's hope he has a career year as well!

Pretty sure everyone is allowed to think whatever the hell they want about Pat.

Personally, I adore him - my friends and I made freakin' TSHIRTS about the man. But everyone is entitled to hate on him if they so choose. That's the beauty of free will.

Oh- and ally- here's a short version of Bacon Pants:

I write for the Ladies... sportsblog, and one of my fellow writers Clare is also a huge Philly fan. She was watching Rowand make a spectacular catch one day while her roommate was cooking bacon... and the two just sort of fused together and she called him "Bacon Pants". She told me, the two of us latched on to the name until everyone at Deadspin and beyond now refers to him that way.

I saw him at a game in Houston and told him that was the nickname we came up with for him. He thought it was hilarious.

Sorry you're losing your Bacon Pants (the story is too funny), but I'm looking forward to cheering him on at ATT Park, which is an *awesome* park. The Giants sure do need him and they have a rabid fan base in the City.
