Patriots Love

I've confessed before that I'm a Cowboys fan, and a Brett Favre fan- so the Patriots are not my team. But I'm going to show them a little love today, on the day of the AFC Championship, just because so many of the Sox heart them. Don't think I've been converted, though- even if I am being nice for the sake of the Sox. I'm still a Cowboys girl- where else can I get a QB who dates a string of vacuous blondes, a crying T.O., and a nutty owner who screams at the players from the sideline?

Even though I haven't been converted- Mike Lowell has. He told the Projo that though he grew up in South Florida as a Dolphins fans, he's backing the Patriots.

We're living in a time when it's a great time to be a sports fan in Boston. There's so many good things going on, so why not keep the ball rolling?
Curt Schilling (a regular Patriots game attendee), Kevin Youkilis and David Ortiz were all at the Patriots-Dolphins game back in December- I posted about it (including a whole bunch of pictures) here. But NESN aired a great clip of their day at Gillette -- including shots of them standing at a table behind the three Lombardi trophies and two World Series trophies.

My gift to Pats fans:

Sorry Texas Gal but I have to say that I'm not really a football fan at all. I grew up with my entire family watching the Cowboys..during Staubach and Waters days...but I'm just not into football...and I do not like T.O. at all. I'll root for the Pats cos of my friends but I love me some Favre too. I love the fact that Josh is totally immersed himself into San Antonio. I figured that boy couldn't just live in Cotulla with minimal nightlife there. I guess I shoulda been trying to go to more Spurs games. :)

Oh man, seeing the trophies all lined up like that... my heart sang!

It is so great to be in this city right now-- the radio stations are all having "Patriots Pep Rally" weekends, companies are letting people come to work in Pats gear (not my employer of course, we're much too serious), and everyone has their social calendar all lined up... and the spirit is amazing.

I was on the T on Friday night just as the Celtics game let out and it was a sea of excitement and green... intermingled with Pats and Sox gear. And there's always Yankees Suck chants in the crowd, no matter the sport, season or opposing team.

I myself will be donning my Pats t-shirt and lucky Sox cap this afternoon.

I keep hearing about all these Pats fans who are evil and mean and everything but I don't see it--so to everyone else out there, sorry about those guys--ignore them and come join our party.

I have noticed that no one has ascribed our successes to anything but skill--it isn't some kind of magical intervention on our part. I have heard talk its because God loves liberals best, but I won't make any comments about that.

And TG--thanks so much for your love today. We love you too! You are now the proud bearer of an IOU Cowboys Support voucher, to be redeemed for any game in which the 'Boys need some extra love next season. (note: invalid if Dallas v. NE)

TG-this post made my heart sad :( Of course, it was already sad after that lost to NY last week. That's alright...I heart the Spurs...I think we all know why ;) so I can appreciate throwing NE some love today.

I don't think I've seen a better description of being a modern Cowboys fan.

i was looking forward to the packers because david ortiz's wife is from wisconsin. i thought maybe we would get an ortiz sighting at the superbowl. i remember the days of roger staubach and the cowboys who i hated w/abandon but i will say this since the pats have been on there streak i respect the cowboys of yesterday more seeing the hatred that non fans have for the pats now. i can see my hatred reflexed back on that time and see how stupid it was. thanks as always for the video

How can you hate Roger Staubach?? oh wait...i read the rest of your post kate. I was like but Roger and Charlie were DA BOMB back then. I miss those days. I've lost that lovin feeling

Tex19 - NFL is a distant third for me when it comes to sports interests. Baseball and college football are far and away my favorites. And I've loved T.O. since his Philly days, because he's INSANE. Like Ocho Cinco or pre-Pats Randy Moss.

Hank - I could have throw something in about THE FUMBLE, but why do that to ourselves?

Margaret- I'm totally going to call in that voucher at an opportune time.

No reason at all to talk about that. Never happened.
